Logo of the People's School in a gold color. "The People's" is creating the top of a circle and there's a loaf of bread with a piece sliced laying down under the words. "Est." and "2024" are on either side of the bread. "School" is located under the bread within a rectangle the ends in a point on each side. lines are sitting next to each other point downwards from the rectangle and beaming off of it creating the bottom half of the circle and there's a line that encompasses it to create the circle

Most of us are rational. And we can think about how out actions might have other consequences. But believing that applies to the US Government now is incredibly dangerous. These aren't rational actors. And if you assume you can predict the next move of the US government is a dangerous belief.

This interview with the great @rebeccasolnit.bsky.social was a "wow" moment for me. Thanks, New York Times and David Marchese.

They were all disputing about the war, about what Thu would do next, what A-lo would do next, what the CWG would do next.

"Why do you talk only in abstractions?" he inquired suddenly, wondering as he spoke why he was speaking, when he had resolved not to. "It is not names of countries, it is people killing each other. Why do the soldiers go? Why does a man go kill strangers?"

Caitlin KALINOWSKI over X

I resigned from OpenAl. I care deeply about the Robotics team and the work we built together.
This wasn't an easy call. Al has an important role in national security. But surveillance of Americans without judicial oversight and lethal autonomy without human authorization are lines that deserved more deliberation than they got. This was about principle, not people. I have deep respect for Sam and the team, and I'm proud of what we built together.
