I think you're on to something. I still do this, with old Twitter you could kinda tell if someone was just drunk. I try to interact with inebriated accounts occasionally with the expectation that they're drunk, or a teenage from Moldova. I figure if it is bot training then I'm polluting the dataset.

I started on Twitter in about 2008, I've worked almost primarily in tech my whole life. I know MAYBE 10 people in real life over that time span who actually used their Twitter accounts.

Putting this in my very large bucket of things Tracy Morgan has casually said out loud, and has a 50/50 chance of either being a hallucination or something he was absolutely witness to.

If you reply enough to these bots you can see that like telemarketers, if you keep them off of their script they eventually break down for a lack of prewritten responses. I dont think they're literally robots, but they don't respond a way a human would.

I use the term bot for brevity. If I was a paid right wing troll farm trying to cause disruption on BlueSky, I would create some pansexual sock puppets with all bases covered bios, farm 10k followers without an original post, and reply with the intention of starting fights. Many such cases.
