i also worked at a shelter for a year and it's wild what we take for granted, plus it'd probably help with all the undue bias/stereotyping
it’s my last 2 weeks here so i’ve been spending my lunch breaks volunteering at the food pantry since my workload isn’t insane for once
i say this all the time but everyone should volunteer with unhoused folks at some point — the perspective alone is worth it, and you’re helping your community !
