I need to be more educated about stuff anyway, and a lot of the way the book speaks seems well crafted, but I think I can see the tendrils of what they're saying the book did.

I started reading Elite Capture by Olúfẹmi O. Táíwò a little before @bellamyj.bsky.social started saying something about it, and then because they said something was fucked up I switched to Daniel Immerwahr's How to Hide an Empire, and now am back to Elite Capture to see if I can catch the fuck-up.

Why prosecutors in WA are recharging a man police nearly beat to death It's been more than 6 years since the incident that landed Joseph Zamora in a coma, then prison. But to Grant County Prosecutor Kevin McCrae, it is not over.

1. Man is beaten almost to death by cop.
2. Convicted by racist DA.
3. Serves full 2 yr prison term.
4. Only after release is conviction tossed for the racism.
5. DA recharges SOLELY bc man asked him to charge cop who beat him.

Once, when I was working at a fast food place, I worked the drive through. I often put on a little voice thing, and people liked it a lot. One pair of women liked it so much they gave me their card, asked me if I ever did phone sex, and drove off.

Sometimes I wonder if I will ever create what I want to. I have difficulty organizing myself to do so, even as I can kinda hear the characters in my head. I know their roles, I see them play their part on the stage in my head, but I can't make them do it in a way that others can see. It's difficult.

I found a rabbit in my yard today. Used to see them all the time, as they had a warren in the backyard of a brick house that had gone into disrepair; the owner was older, and probably couldn't take care of the place. The owner died, and the lot was split in two, but it seems like the rabbits won out
