throughline from covid through epstein through genAI is CONSENT. our ability to engage in meaningful consent over our lives and collective futures is one way we describe our relative freedoms or liberation as communities

I won’t be going back. Target has been a safe haven for ICE and that’s unforgivable. ICE continues to feel safest in the Quarry Target parking lot and using their handicap spots without intervention.

Don’t shop at Target, shop at immigrant owned businesses and co-ops instead.

From the Strib: Both Camacho's son and Aljorna's 18-month-old were relinquished to friends the next day under legal documents called a Delegation of Parental Authority (DOPA). They immediately returned the children to their respective
grandmothers, who share an apartment in the Twin Cities. None of the occupants or their relatives were allowed back into the duplex, now an active crime scene, so the children could not
retrieve any belongings. In the days that followed, Camacho's little boy asked his teacher to deliver some toys - a dinosaur, Play Doh and a Lightning
McQueen car. His grandmother had another request: a baby bottle. The 18- month-old had not yet mastered drinking from an open cup, and the family did not feel safe leaving their apartment to go buy a
bottle. Tricia Armstrong, a speech therapist who began working with the older boy last spring, dropped off the groceries and a few
extras. "They're a wonderful family," she said, lambasting the DHS' attempt to paint them as "evil criminals" in their statements about the shooting. "The way it's spun makes it seem like [Sosa- Celis] is one of these dangerous, murdering rapist gang members
from Venezuela."
In reality, he has no criminal record beyond driving infractions.

One horror in this Strib story on ICE’s lies & violence against a North Minneapolis family hit home to this grandparent: an 18-month who couldn’t be fed for 24 hours because their mom was kidnapped & the grandmas couldn't leave their house to buy a baby bottle. www.startribune.com/federal-agen...

Hundreds of lawyers put aside the need to make money, forfeited sleep, and took on habeas cases. When you pass the bar you are deemed competent to practice every type of law. The reality is, you are not competent to practice any. But you learn. And you learn how to become competent at new areas.

For some reason I find it just profoundly shocking that literally any grown-ass adult would lie about his shoe size and then just … commit to it. A minute ago I would have flatly denied the possibility

I don’t understand why they do not simply send an aide to the store to get them the same shoe in a size that fits them. Utterly baffled by this

Helped my neighbor scan some documents he needs ahead of an immigration hearing: asylum application, birth certificate, police report from Ecuador. He said his wife had guarded the documents ferociously all the way here. He showed me how she held them above her head as they forded the Rio Bravo 11/x

After detainments and deportations, the lives left behind in Minnesota From abandoned possessions to unpaid rent, many Minnesotans had to lean on family, friends and community organizations for help with their unfinished business.

β€œEight days after Paco’s arrest, Mercedes found some of his clothing in the gap between his side of the bed and the wall. … Mercedes realized she could still smell his scent on them. She cried and then put the clothes back.”

Extraordinary reporting from @emmamarienelson.bsky.social and JP Lawrence

Evictions are far more costly than 30 extra days and it’s not close. Especially when the 30 extra days will often result in landlords getting money they’re owed from their tenants anyways.

MPD's "duty to intervene" is meaningless when his police force worked through the last few months without a single intervention. He should just acknowledge there was no amount of lawlessness federal agents could've done that would have triggered an intervention.

Police Oversight Commissioner to Chief O'Hara: "There are thousands of people like me who took time from their daily life to patrol and do dispatch. We feel hung out to dry. There was a serious house fire earlier this week on Polk street. Not only is the family suffering from the damage to their house, but early in the morning after the fire their house robbed and belongings were stolen. Let’s help our neighbors in Waite Park recover.
