David Torrance MSP holding a sign saying "78% of constituents in Kirkcaldy support changing the law on assisted dying."
Tbf I'd be pretty pro-suicide if I lived in Kirkcaldy

That's been on my watchlist for like 15 years lmao
A shameful and unnecessary action, stemming from a shameful and unnecessary war. It shows once again that the current US regime does not care about the lives of Ukrainians any more than they care about the lives of Iranians, Palestinians or anyone else caught up in the gears of their administation.
There is a massive parallel with that and e.g. Graves of the Fireflies which promote pacifism by framing Japan as a victim of war, instead of the instigator of violence
And b) the fact that european militarism wasn't peacefully dismantled by internal reform, it was destroyed by Allied high explosives
Timonthy Snyder had a really interesting point about western hypocrisy in relation to Ukraine that run something along the lines that Europeans (Germans in particular) pride themselves on embracing peace and pacificism, but gloss over a) all the post war colonial conflicts
Japan does this too, a bit. I think an element of it is western orientalism, but also no, actually, japan is not some mythical, mystical place foreigners will never understand, you're just quite xenophobic
Like most wee guys who say "You don't know anything about me!", they're actually quite easy to understand, and they are just cunts
We've seen this before.
The Strait of Hormuz being goatse'd.
Can this be a solution?
I have not once heard a coherent explaination from anyone saying "weeeell, aren't Crimea and the Donbass really Russian anyway?" how that logic doesn't also excuse annexing the Sudetenland. They always insist it's not the same, but can never say why.
I mean there's probably a bigger, and far more recent source of inspiration here

Supporting Ukraine is not a distraction, and it isn't charity. It's self preservation.

Yet another Russian terrorist attack against us. Not Ukraine, not Georgia. Against us.
Yet another confirmation that Russia is not interested in peace. That Russia will not stop with Ukraine. That Russia wants the entire continent of Europe under its thumb.
I heard on Frankie Boyle's podcast that the donkey charities have enough donations off old dears that they could afford to buy each donkey in the UK its own bungalo
Are you inveting socialist realism from first principles?
An article from The Herald "Glasgow fire vape shop does not appear on government's register of vape sellers"
Immediate special military operation against unregistered vape shops, imo
With some basic but essential caveats
The reason the middle-class media has not reported Hannah Spencer being attacked by right-wing transphobes is that it needs to preserve the nice, coffeee-round-the-kitchen-table, middle-class view of transphobia, not the thuggish fascist reality.
Stop being a twat.
"Bagel shops are gentrification, because being Jewish New Yorker in Leith is middle class"
"Orangemen are like PRC stans" is obviously a bit of a simplification, but not *too* much of one
As someone who just started watching Derry Girls with his Hong Konger gf, I can get on board with this

There are sources of funding available in most cities in Scotland for historic building repair, if you're in a tenement and notice your roof's leaking or whatever, form an owners association and think about repairs. It may cost a few grand, but could save you going into debt should the worst happen
Incredibly depressing fact: if you're in one of these old tenement buildings and it burns down, insurance companies can and will subtract the cost of any repairs from the value of the property when deciding the insurance payout. This can actually leave you in negative equity, meaning you *owe* money
My hairdresser and friend opened her business last week. Tonight it burned to the ground. This is devastating.
I’ve set up a fundraiser. If you haven’t done anything for international women’s day yet, here’s a chance to support a women-run business in need: www.paypal.com/pools/c/9nhn...
