My doc gave me an rx for hydroxyzine for my insomnia and anxiety--it's non-habit forming and works like a dream (pun-intended--it can occasionally produce vivid though fairly pleasant dreams) in about 15 minutes.

Lu and Lana were the best!
I hope things improve soon!
I teach a class inside a prison. My students have amazingly sophisticated analyses on forms of violence & how these impacted their incarceration. Many also say that a. current parents need to return to spanking their kids & b. they were spanked and they turned out fine. That's not seen as violence.
Same! I'm traveling for Spring Break at the end of next week and am trying to make myself wait until then but it's so hard.
The number of times I have been dealing with something I have not yet identified, walked into a bookstore, and seen the perfect ThΓch NhαΊ₯t HαΊ‘nh book for the moment on display.

The Lake Street location is staying open, afaik. There is a Barnes and Noble opening where Borders used to be. It's supposed to open summer.
I was talking about this yesterday. There is no way OP should have two Pete's, two Jewels, a couple of independent grocery stores, specialty food stores, and a Trader Joe's. It's enraging, especially with the paucity of grocery stores next door in Austin. I discuss this in all my classes.
This makes me glad my husband dropped out of their interview process when he did.
At the beginning of my career, I'd tell students who referred to me as Mrs. Allen that that was my grandmother and she died in 2003.
Indeed there is. There is a growing body of research that shows that exposure to interpersonal and systemic racism has a deleterious effect on various health outcomes for Black people. One example: sph.umich.edu/news/2024pos...

I love US βπΎ
My now 16 year old used to love himself a bran muffin when he was a little guy. It surprised every server every time--they'd look at me to confirm his choice.
Which makes him like the Black people in that room how?
Lol at this since peaches are part of the rose family.
I almost made my youngest late for a baseball game a couple blocks away the first time I saw this house. We were on our way to the field and I had to circle the car back to gawk at this, this, this....
Noting the May 7th date! I have appreciated your book deeply and it's already informing the work my students and I are doing in suburban Chicago (Will County, Illinois).
I can't even type "the". It always autocorrects to "Theresa". I'd finally figured out how to fix this and then months later, it randomly unfixed itself so I just gave up.
She sounds and looks so good!
Lake Zurich.
There were also similar complaints about Beyonce's performance and its use of Black Panther Part iconography.
I remembered this from last year: www.wired.com/story/super-...
High key, imo. Pretty to look at but I couldn't abide the messaging.
Seeing it made me close the app.
This is all so awful. For some reason the thing that sticks in my head--in addition to him discussing her spending the night at his home--is him calling her an "authoress".
This is the day we boiled water and threw it in the air and it came down snow. We then ran back in the house and had hot apple cider and hot toddies for the rest of the evening.
Learned this in class last week.
I'd (pretended) I'd gotten over students--IN ILLINOIS, NO LESS--not knowing who Emmett Till was and then I saw they didn't know Trayvon Martin.
A reminder I need to pick my 11 year old Timbs up. I have been wearing the purple leather boots that I picked up from my cobbler when I dropped my Timbs off. A good cobbler is, well, a good thing.
One of my favorite & most recommended podcasts! I especially appreciated the episode on the Drs. Julian. I have long thought more should know about Anna Johnson Julian and given that she lived where I currently live and was the first Black woman to earn a Sociology PhD, this sociologist was RIVETED!
