Looks like itβs a rainy day today in Falkirk. Something quite nice about working with the sound of the rain in the background

Watched 28 Years Later last night. Never seen a movie go from a solid 7/10 to a 5/10 in the last minute of runtime before, kind of impressive how badly it fumbles the tone right at the end.
A great collection of open source tools for creatives.

Not normally one to root for Disney, but hey if they wanna fight AI on copyright infringement Iβm not gonna say no

Close-up render of an iPhone with the new βLiquid Glassβ UI design, focused on a menu bar showing a row of icon buttons as well as a music player. The content behind the UI is blurred by the glass effect, producing an overly busy effect
If this is secretly Appleβs way to get people off their phones and looking at the world around them then theyβre doing a good job I guess
Photo of an iPhone Home Screen with the new βLiquid Glassβ icons on display. The icons are translucent white and very hard to read.
Great work Apple UI design team, everyone has been crying out for insubstantial, unreadable yet somehow overly detailed user interfaces, everyone I meet tells me how much they hate looking at their phones
Long time readers know how important we feel about creating your own thing. Hopefully this article gives you a push to make something β anything you can call yours.

I re-read this post about 5 times, just to be extra sure.
Weekly Tip: Read, then re-read. Check for spelling. Doesn't matter if someone else wrote it or you did it yourself β in fact if you wrote it, get someone else to check it for you.

Photo of 4 Brewdog beer cans, from left to right: Punk IPA (blue and black), Hazy Jane (teal and white), Lost Lager (gold and white), Elvis Juice (orange and cream).
Brewdog's recently rebranded some of their beers, and they're claiming the new look is 'revolutionary'. Looks pretty bland to me, but then I'm not surprised that the massive company that pretends to be punk while treating its staff atrociously has trouble coming across as authentic.
Good morning to the inevitable consequences of my own hubris
I love my cute little pocket computer which is now a direct portal to hell
You ever get into a proper flow state with a project, and all of a sudden itβs 2am and youβre tired and youβve done more work in 4 hours than youβve done in days?

Ah but what if they measure it wrong? Letβs get a third opinion, best two out of three.
Own your own content. You never know when platforms will get taken away, or taken over by weirdos.
More importantly: own your own knowledge.
Weekly tip:
Measure twice, cut once.

AI has always promised to help people spend more time doing valuable work by automating the manual, repetitive, toilsome tasks so that software developers can be free to use their time on "something better".
That's not what's happening.

Very different from their usual album art. Wonder if thereβll be some tracks highlighting the failings of the modern tech industry?
Oh good, Scottish train passengers are being subjected to an AI generated announcer which was apparently trained on data that wasnβt meant for that purpose. Love to live in a cyberpunk dystopia www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Starting a new habit today: morning pages! Seemed like a good a time as any to start this notebook #journalling

Massive disadvantage to working from home: itβs really easy to find ways to avoid a task you donβt wanna do
Been doing some epub development recently, and the key takeaway so far is: assume any CSS or graphics even slightly interesting wonβt be supported by one or more of the biggest vendors. Fun?
bit windy today
Woo, custom domain handle. Fun!
