I used to offer to lend my friends my anime BDs and DVDs but they kept saying "what would I even play that on?"

Almost none of my friends my age own any DVDs or Blu-rays, or even a player for them, but because I'm an old man at heart and increasingly one in body as well, I've held out long enough for young people to get into the same stuff as me

Ah yes. The Evan shirt inspired the Tezuka's Barbara shirt created by a Crunchycast fan. I remember when @nateming.bsky.social showed up to my birthday party wearing it. I lacked the courage to make this part of my regular shirt rotation.

Gundam had its first non-Tomino anime only 10 years after the original series, featuring an entirely new cast of characters! It set very different expectations as a franchise. It's a bummer (though not surprising) to see Eva cynically embrace its status as a franchise separate from Anno

One take on this I'm seeing is "stop being so precious, this was already happening, Gundam did it already." But I do think there's something a little different about Eva. Every mainline entry has had Anno at the helm and it's always been telling functionally the same story about the same characters

I always chalked it up to me adjusting to the opposite-side walking, but yeah I do find I have to be extra careful to not bump into people
