Michael Bradley's NYRB with the better of the play early, JMR forcing a scramble of saves out of Gavran.
TFC finding a couple of decent moments on the break, but this flurry of set pieces are ones Gavran will want to quickly forget, and Toronto will be grateful to get through without conceding

Unchanged lineup for #TFCLive ahead of the home opener
Sargent makes the 18 for the first time, expecting to see maybe a half hour from the new DP today
Zimmerman able to retain his spot in the reformed back 5 after a concussion scare last week

The Reds hang on
TFC picks up their first win of the season, and first ever away at Cincinnati, 1-0 with late heroics from hometown hero Laryea and newcomer Saloi
Lots to like, bits to improve, and we'll see how the full picture comes together with Sargent potentially at the home debut

Nervy moments from Gavran here in stoppage times, shades of the worst moments of the Bono era. Room for improvement commanding the box and claiming crosses especially.

Saloi is found by Laryea with a perfect through ball, with former Red cult hero Hagglund playing the new winger onside as he curls around Celentano and into the side netting

TFC fighting uphill a bit early in the second half, Cincy in the ascendancy and now Walker Zimmerman heads off for a concussion substitution. Expect the young Stefanovic to take his place.
Other substitution saw Etienne enter at RWB and Richie move to LWB in place of Edwards

After the first half, I think we can definitively say AristizΓ‘bal and Kuscevic are *significant* upgrades on Etienne and Kosi.
Edwards is really battling, just about holding his own against a strong first half from Echenique, and you could see Osorio and Kuscevic offer more support as the half went

First half hour you have to say has favored Toronto, AristizΓ‘bal and Mihailovic linking up well with support from Salloi.
Cincy building back into the match, including drawing a yellow from Kuscevic with Denkey dropping deep to get on the ball.

Looks like a back 5 for Toronto FC today, with Edwards added to the XI beside debutant BenjamΓn Kuscevic, and Zane Monlouis gets a chance for full minutes the other side of Zimmerman.
More excitingly is a chance from the top for U22 CF Emilio AristizΓ‘bal

π¨π± BREAKING: Toronto FC is finalizing a deal to sign Chile intβl center back Benjamin Kuscevic from Fortaleza, per sources.
Loan with purchase option, Iβm told.
Kuscevic, 29, has 14 caps for Chile. Regular in Brazilβs top flight. Formerly with Palmeiras too. Key signing.

Barring a shock consolation or a 'Caps sub snagging something, that should do it
Tough to judge a second half after capitulating in the first, but some combo of subs and Vancouver easing off made it marginally better
A CF will help, but I'm not sure about this midfield combo. Hopeful for Monlouis

Couple of subs have led to a more positive start to the second for Toronto FC.
Derek with a second penalty shout in as many weeks, and Djordje found the back of the net from an offside position.
It's not much, but much improved from the dismal first half

Any but the most deranged of us sickos can safely take the early night, as Toronto FC head into the locker room down 3-0 and frankly I don't think the game was as close as the scoreline suggests

Well executed set piece sends Vancouver up 2-0, again it's Thomas Muller
Maybe having only one center back and no ball winning midfielder makes defending difficult, but one would hope to see some tradeoff positively going forward, and there is just no life here going forward

32' gone and I don't think Mihailovic has touched the ball.
Cifu probably the closest thing to a bright spot in a #TFCLive side that looks to be really struggling with the turf.

Tough start for the big free agent acquisition as Zimmerman gives away a needless penalty with very little contact.
Muller scores eventually after long stutter walk-up.

We'll get to see Salloi from the start tonight, otherwise unchanged XI for #TFCLive
No Sargent yet, so another run out for Etienne at a false 9 that I'm personally unconvinced of, but regardless will be better than the Leafs game I'm switching off to tune in

Second half thoughts for #TFCLive:
* Saloi looks really good already
* Noticeable uptick in quality and pace generally over last 4 years
* Biggest hole at CF
* Though Kosi did alright, would love to see Monlouis take that spot next to Walker
Overall very positive despite the result going 2-3 Dallas

Watching on delay having come back from a Warhammer event, but first half #TFCLive thoughts:
* Both FC Dallas goals very preventable, self-inflicted wounds
* 5+ good chances created, unfortunately most fell to Derek, who is not a striker
* Cifu really good; Coello struggled, especially first 20'

And there's the final whistle. Not much to reward those of us who beat the sunrise to see a toothless Toronto FC drop their last public preseason match 1-0 to Frederikstad.
Heavy rotation mitigates any major alarm bells, but CF reinforcements feel an urgent need before the team flies home

Hard to imagine Toronto FC sneaking an equalizer here, barring a set piece of some kind. *Really* feel the lack of a central presence at forward, especially with as direct as the lack of midfield control has made the Reds play

First goal of the game goes to Frederikstad, and it had been coming. Aside from one chance where Djordje found Etienne in space for a first time shot, the Norwegian side has had the better of the chances and found space for a header nodded past Yarbrough
TFC down now 1-0
