HIV has, effectively, a vaccination.
So, to maintain a NEXUS card with my correct gender, it seems I should renew my NEXUS card in July (the earliest I can) and then my passport after? Sigh.
Hmm. Does vampire bait count? How about someone who would pet and feed and cuddle 30-50 feral hogs?

I wanted to but my parents didn’t think users would actually abide by BBS operating hours in the evening and overnight (when I was allowed to tie up the phone line). By the time we had a second phone line, the internet had already consumed my life lol
These dial-up BBSs thrived in the context of local communities. I think there’s an increasing desire and justification for some marginalized communities to socialize and thrive off of the internet. I see the desire for that with projects like Meshtastic. I wonder if we could learn something here.
Of course, much of the infrastructure that supported BBSs is being eliminated on our time. The building I live in didn’t even bother to run POTS phone lines to the apartments, and phone systems are being replaced wholesale by VOIP in rural areas.
I wonder if we should look at a model like this again with the rise of dead internet theory, corporate-influenced AI, and nation state-controlled bots making the internet town square difficult to use in an authentic way.
I’m watching a documentary about how BBSs supported local communities in a non-commercial, decentralized way prior to the internet becoming big. Some boards connected to Fidonet, Echomail, and WWIVnet.

My best and favourite girl, Heidi, a German Shepherd, snuggled up with four small kittens There's a lovely tabby smooshed into her face, a ginger, and a ginger and white kitten on either side of the tabby, and a calico curled up at the bottom. They are super cosy and peaceful.

I did my voting today! It’s Election Day, so we are putting ours in a drop box, but I still wanted to put a stamp on anyway.
Hmm. I wonder if there’s any causal relationship between the statements “I feel like crud emotionally tonight” and “I missed my E shot three nights ago” 🕵️♀️
And at the end? We’re going to have prizes, but they will be chew toys for the dogs. The people get nothing, except pets and licks, of course.
The chew toys will be different colors, but only in the range the dogs can’t differentiate, so they all just get a new toy.
This is how it will be.
I’m going to start a new kind of agility for puppers. Anyone can bring their dog, none of this purebred stuff. We will adapt the course by size of dog, and there will be different groups based on age and ability.
Here’s what bothers me about the dog agility shows: the humans get the awards at the end!
What did they do to deserve an award? The pupper is the one that runs the course, does the barking, all of it.
It would be nice to have a caseload of mostly stable, lower-acuity clients. Clients I can help blossom and thrive rather than worry with them about their next meal or whether they will be alive tomorrow.
Maybe it’s time for me to blossom and thrive in a different professional direction too.
I’m having a serious “what now?” moment with work and my career. My manager just resigned for personal reasons. I’ve worked in crisis and crisis-adjacent spaces for so long and wonder if I should start planning my next transition too.

My partner said they had been to the Bimbo factory outlet but had never tried the bread. The first thing that came to my mind were all those sad trans puppy-bimbo girls just sitting at the outlet store, marked down for clearance.
What will it take to get there? To properly guarantee the assessment of such a person? If I’m being charitable, I’d say those in control of our government need to display a great deal more gumption and integrity than we see now.
