It does feel like a double whammy so much of the time. If we can for a moment disrupt the broken and conditional love cycle I do think that burden is, well, an opportunity. Sometimes though, you just gotta smile or glare and walk/run away when someone is toxic. Safety over modeling, for sure.

My son has ADHD. As a toddler he ran off, a lot. Many older folks encouraged me to beat him when he did. I would respond, I think the fear factor will make him a faster runner. Maybe a leash? To that, they would wince like I had smacked them across the face. Kids suffer at the hands of ignorance.
