Deep-sea life connects across oceans - Conservation Corridor
Deep-sea ecosystems are more connected across oceans than shallow waters, emphasizing the need for conservation strategies that protect biodiversity at all depths.
We may not know exactly who is in the deep ocean...
... but new research reveals that deep-sea ecosystems are more connected across oceans than shallow waters, meaning we need for conservation strategies that protect biodiversity at all depths:

Less than 3% of U.S. land is protected and connected - Conservation Corridor
A connectivity assessment of U.S. protected areas highlights how results can change according to scale and context, emphasizing the need for standardized reporting frameworks.
Many countries and US states have pledged to protect 30% of their land and water by 2030 in order to preserve biodiversity, but will they succeed if protected areas are unconnected?
Learn more about the state of 30x30 connectivity in our latest digest...

Wildlife crossings provide safe passage
Elk, deer, panthers, bears, turtles and all sorts of animals are struck by cars and trucks. Wildlife crossings give them safe passage.
Each year in the U.S., wildlife-vehicle collisions cost $8 billion in property damage and cause many injuries and fatalities. A Washington State University study of wildlife crossings found that each overpass saved between $235,000 and $443,000 per year.
