At some point last year I dived down a massive Japanese ambient rabbit hole. Iβve only partly re-emerged because I keep finding so many great albums. This one by Hideo Nakasako is sublime from start to finish, but if you play one track, make it Dust

I definitely have an ambient hat on today. This new one by Hirotaka Shirotsubaki on the always excellent Stereoscenic label is an absolute beauty. He describes it as a hopeful album (it was recorded during Covid) and that really comes across.

Todayβs album: still with Home Normal, Iβm playing Great Plains by AnthΓ©ne and Far Away Nebraska, released yesterday. Another haunting, immersive ambient beauty.

I think Iβve raved about the music of IvΓ‘n Aguayo, aka BahΓa Mansa, before, but his new one, Objetos de Campo, Parte 1 is absolutely sublime. Find it here:

Great album. I saw them a couple of years later at the New Ardri Ballroom in Hulme, Manchester with fIREHOSE and AC Temple supporting. A mind-blowing set -see below! And yes, βdroppingβ in this context sets the teeth on edge a little :)

Now playing: Flow and Fracture by @jo-johnson.bsky.social. Gorgeous stuff. Anything Muzan Editions release is worth hearing, but this is particularly good.
