Gridsky has come this far. It's a rough draft shaped by six months of experimenting with the AT Protocol to understand what an app like this can realistically achieve. We might even be ready to start over

But that would have meant working quietly and in a rush for a long time, maybe without getting any kind of support until it all worked perfectly — and ending up releasing it after a decade, or maybe never at all

There was a plan to make the project available to everyone in the future (not right away, but in a few years), so that anyone could download it, see the code, contribute, or even run Gridsky on their own

First of all, let’s start from the beginning. What is Gridsky meant to be?

An app focused on photos and videos that integrates as many services from the AT Protocol as possible, starting with Bluesky, and offering an Instagram-like interface that can be customized
