Valefor is a fucked up Magic: The Gathering card
Thanks for sharing! I see some of your signature bounce tech here, looks fun.
Happy Friday the 13th to Chase specifically
Any chance you have a list to share?
Haven't played Fall yet but I'm excited to. A rattlesnake to encourage holding back more cards in hand looked promising.
War and Peace on Alexios is as rad as you'd expect. Some smarty said life gain is extra turns in casual.
Playing with newer people gave me a fresh perspective on UB cards. We collectively cheered for Sonic with Super State. The 40K players passed Khârn between them. J. Jonah had us discussing our favorite JK Simmons roles. Everything was new and cool again. Magic is in its SSBU era and I'm here for it
The deck went off without a hitch, and the best part? The group loved it. They hadn't seen something like it before, and said it was cool that Magic had more strategies to explore. After the day, I received the real win: An invite back. The outing couldn't have gone better. The vibes were immaculate
The group is newer to magic and pro UB (more on that later). Our second game called for bracket 3, and after seeing the spread of legends (Liesa SoD, Sonic, Mendicant), I pulled out Nelly and explained the strategy. Sounds fun, shuffle up and play, man. And BOY OH BOY did she play!
Now that's all well and good, but Group Hug and Goad aren't very popular archetypes to play against (see mill, theft, etc). Bringing it to pkck-up pods would be asking for trouble. Thankfully I was invited to a new-to-me group, but had no idea what the vibes would be. I brought Nelly as a backup.
Those who know me well know Group Hug and Goad are some of my favorite strategies. I love helping players catch up, and subsequently messing with their plans. Nelly blends those strategies well. Forced draw paired with Owling Mine tech provides an answer to the "Goad Problem" in spectacular fashion.
Unsure of when I'll play in person again, so I want to share this deck with the skyline. This is the culmination of nearly a year of research, theorycrafting, and goldfishing. Check out Boros Owling Mine starring Nelly Borca. This may be the best deck I've ever made.

Scourge of Fleets and Stormtide Leviathan. One isn't good without the other, and as much as I love Stormtide it's just really clunky with Dinos
There's a fishing mini game in many of people's favorite video games, so I wanted to bring that vibe to EDH.

Bracket Brie
I have it in Boros Owling Mine. Double duty reanimator and hand filler, love it!
You've got me thinking Soul of Windgrace and land cyclers.
Wow, not even close! Insightful work as always, thanks Kristen.
RE Powercreep, I feel Boros has been power corrected with FIRE design, while Sultai is more traditionally crept with premium upgrades to existing tools. It's why Trouble in Pairs feels more like a game changer than Displacer Kitten.
Had a cool idea for an article: a nostalgic look at an old list, with a critical eye. How many cards from a 2019 deck would I even play in 2026? What does that say about power creep?
Drop your guess in the comments before giving it a read and finding out!

Going in blind I'll say 16 cards.
Bibically accurate cardigan: CLAYBEE NOT AFRAID
I also ended up dehydrated, but after eating an entire 30 bag pack of goldfish and not drinking water. I was also not eating competitively at this time.
Made some new friends, had a few laughs, and was invited back. Really needed this.
Dude is straight up missing the Marsh Badge. He went to Saffron, got filtered, and made his own
