just sat with @scriptr.dev and worked through a migration off ingress-nginx to traefik for us.pycon.org, python.org, PyPI, _and_ more⦠in under 20 minutes
holy shit i have never moved so much traffic so seamlessly before π«Ά

Yes. No anger
Iβm also not leaving the community :purple_heart:, Iβll be around and am very much looking forward to continuing to contribute and volunteer in the long run.
See you at PyCon US 2026, maybe even less frazzled than last year.
Iβm not going to be riding into the sunset though π. I am grateful to be able to commit 20% of my time over the next six months to support the current and any new PSF staff in assuring continuity and reliability around my responsibilities.
Iβm thrilled to have helped to bring the PSF to a place where this transition does not feel utterly terrifying and am grateful to all of the PSF staff, board, volunteers, and community members that have made that possible.
You can read a more formal announcement over at pyfound.blogspot.com/2026/01/ee-d..., but I wanted to share on socials as well.
It has been an incredible⦠nearly 8 years serving as the Director of Infrastructure for the PSF, but it is time for me to do something new.
Some news, Iβll be departing the PSF as a staff member at the end of this week.
Does your org run a self-managed version of @gitlab.com and publish your own #Python packages to @pypi.org ?
If you want to try out an alpha of Trusted Publishing for GitLab Self-Managed instances, let me know via DM - I'm collecting interest now, and should have something to show soon.
broke my arm. any tips or thoughts from other folks who type for a living on how to get back to productive (after first few days rest)
built some objectively cool shit for @bikeaction.org and I am proud of it: bikeaction.org/tools/laser-...
An official looking red and white sign in the same format as a classic no parking sign, but it says: NO RANKING CUOMO Corrupt Creep At the bottom in smaller font where it would normal say Dept of Transportation, it says Dept of Not Getting Conned
The rewriting of history and his character is mind melting. Love whenever I see evidence many NYers are not fooled (Spotted in PLG)
Iβm in the process of having some made out of jewelry grade material. It wonβt be exorbitantly expensive, but the upfront costs are a bit higher than I can stomach easily right now.

A full length snake ring on Eeβs right ring finger. A glove covers the top part of their knuckles.
In case you donβt know about these rings, @lorencrary.bsky.social introdβ me to them a few years back at a PSF staff retreat. Iβve been wearing one daily since, and given hundreds away because itβs fun and they are dirt cheap pot metal. 1/2
A pile of large cardboard shipping boxes in front of Eeβs bikes hanging on a wall
#PyConUS reg is home safe and sound, followed me like a stray cat!β©
If youβre an organizer of a regional Python conference and would like to have check-in, badge printing, door check, and lead retrieval services like those youβve seen at PyCon US the last three years, Iβd love to chat!
i am ashamed of how horrifyingly satisfying this work was github.com/pypi/warehou...
We canβt do that investing without the support of sponsors and members. Please please please consider helping to fund the PSF by advocating for your company to sponsor, and if you are able-supporting us directly.
Thank you Maria Ashna and @monorepo.bsky.social, yall being on the team has created so much capacity for great things, and your efforts this year onsite were a game changer for me
This is all possible because the PSF has been _investing_ in building capacity in the areas I have been responsible for

#PyConUS βmain eventsβ have concluded, and I am grateful to once again have gotten the opportunity to help make the event happen.
β©I met a goal this year of seeing all of my reports speak. I also got to *enjoy* my days in the moment so much this year, not just be satisfied and proud of the work.

this is fairly specific to learning that the beating soul of maintainer relationships at GH got axed
gonna feel icky looking at GitHub UI for the next indefinite period of time
Kara! Whatever miserable humanoid cabal made the decisions that led to this has know idea what they have undermined.
Thank you thank you thank you for tirelessly for the joy you made along the way. May even a corpuscle of the things you embodied live on, if theyβre lucky.
i remember when PyPI was running at @osuosl on two lil ganeti vms, a mirrored drbd volume, and no CDN.
super sad to hear that OSUOSL is facing a funding crisis. If you or someone you know has deep pockets and cares about open source infrastructure... it's time to act! osuosl.org/blog/osl-fut...
