You really have to manage colonies well when you don’t want them to increase. I’ve been working hard to increase ours, so splitting every chance. But it does get to be some work!

Yes, if they don’t build up quick enough, I would squish a queen and combine them with another hive before winter. But I’m going to give these a shot, we still have a fall flow to go through here and with luck???

They really aren’t interested in stinging you unless they are protecting their hive. I love that you are planting for them!

Look what was hanging around in the apiary this morning. I caught and put them in a new home. Not crazy about August swarms, but will see if we can get them built up for winter. #beekeeping

Started off with smiles on our faces. After being in bee suits in 102 degrees….smiles were gone and we needed showers!
