Same deal with Boston to NYC. It's just under 4hrs by train from the middle of the city, no dicking around at the airport. Part of the problem is that American airports have bad transit links. Even if you take the train to the airport in Boston you're sat on a shuttlebus for another 20 mins

A study of social media content 18-24-year olds see in #Finland, #France and #Romania shows that algorithms overwhelmingly feed them right-wing political content - whether or not the users are interested.

Three country average for right wing content was 58% - in Finland, 67%!

Your ego is something you will constantly battle against in the process of writing and serving your ego above all else as a writer will hold you back and make you worse. If you write to impress your desire to be liked will ooze across the page.

The best advice I have for writers is: the harder you try to impress people with your prose, the worse your prose will be. Sit down and try to communicate honestly, you will find the places for your flourishes and metaphors that actually serve greater meaning rather than your own ego.

any time these ancient creatures are destroyed or torn up for our rapacious urban spaces and needs, I feel so very sad

The powerplay in this, btw, is when FIFA/Kraft try to bully the committee in the public meeting with a lawyer saying they do not have the authority to block the permit.

At which point the committee just Zoom call their own counsel who's like:

"Pfff. Yeah you do. Ignore that dude." To the room.

A digital illustration in a colored pencil style on a toned paper background. It’s the weird servant robot that Rocky gives Paulie for his birthday in Rocky IV. It has a big elliptical spheroid head with big shiny blue eyes, arms with grabby pincer claws and the bottom of its body is shaped kind of like a retro-future vacuum cleaner with some kind of control panel at hip level. The robot has a striped party hat on its head and is carrying a birthday cake with white and pink frosting covered with lit candles on a tasty. Many orange-red lines are radiating around its head surrounding faux-digital text that reads β€˜Maybe it will happen today’.

Seems like it takes an average of 12 accusations before cops start investigating, so basically in the US, you get the first 11 rapes free. But obviously the rich get dozens to hundreds before the police, corporations, and politicians stop turning a blind eye and start covering their own asses.

The writer of this piece bought a small farm just north of Iowa City with her professor husband & has never run the farm herself. The land wasn't farmed at all from 2017 to 2020 because they couldn't find a tenant.

Oh no not rural communities. I love rural communities so much. I love the culture, I love how they vote, I love their VMT foot print.

Anything but shrinking rural communities. The thing that I’ve always been so fond of. Please God no.

This puts me at 10 people released. I filed my 1st habeas petition 29 days ago. I am an incredibly small-time, nobody lawyer who knew nothing about immigration law the day I submitted that case. I barely know any more today. I had never sued the federal government and now I've beaten them 10 times.

Oh, do romance readers read too much? Of the wrong kind of books, you say? In the wrong kind of language, you say? Are they too easy, too sexy, too fun, too silly? And we’re pretending this is not The argument that people have made against romance since (checks library) 1785?
