I sometimes worry that too many people think being a good critic means being a self-righteous dick about every little thing and I think far too many miss the point that you can't critique anything if you don't know how to love something.
America no longer innovates in the tech world but we are always breaking new ground when it comes to heckling
deserved a shot at replacing some of anzalone's snaps. glad to see he'll get it
"i will slurp down swastikas all day but do not let me see one boob" is an excellent filter for awful people. i, for one, hate nazis and love boobs, and i'm brave enough to say it
NFL free agency news today on Bluesky has been tremendous. Last year at this time there was next to no breaking free agency news on here. Things change!
Three panel comic. Panel 1: three witches stand around a cauldron while one of them stirs. Panel 2: one of the witches adds a scoop of pre workout into the pot. Panel 3: the three witches are getting absolutely shredded in the gym.
NBC News poll Voters hold negative views of Al. In fact, the only topics less popular in the survey were the Democratic Party and Iran.
Truly a perfect news alert
very excited for this to be out in the world: i wrote about repressed queerness in Elio, child surveillance in Inside Out 2, the post-Lasseter crisis, and the figure of the child in Pixar for The Baffler

nothin better than standing regular-style in my favorite restaurant. i love to cross that threshold and plant my feet in a loose but vigilant straddle, like anyone would
"you owe us" is gonna be a real popular pitch to customers, i'm sure
lmaaaao yes

really enjoyed the new @trangirlismo.bsky.social episode about stellantis, some incredible jeep content and also just dismantling the mercedes g-wagen
From the article: βThe photo wires are lousy with photos of the Secretary of State sliding around in shoes that seem aspirationally sized-up to appeal to his boss's belief that βyou can tell a lot about a man by his shoe size.β Here he is ridin' loose in the Oval Office.β Picture: A bunch of freaks sitting around the Oval Office, with Marco Rubio (and maybe also JD Vance) wearing The Big Shoes. (Kay Nietfeld/dpa via Getty Images)
A zoomed-in crop of the previous picture, where Vanceβs shoes look at least a size or two too big. And Rubioβs similar-looking shoes appear *several* sizes too big.
what are thooooooooose
i hear thisβbut trying to fix democracy with anti-democratic moves (like the new stupid gerrymandering arms race) will come back to bite you, one way or another.
mmm-hmmmmmmm
well, at first it was my wife dragging me in because her dad re-took the choir director job at their old church and he needed more guys who could cover a tenor part π
but just imagine being 12 and sitting in the passenger seat and looking at your dad who you love and thinking, βhe really just said the dumbest shit iβve ever heardβ
when i was like 12 i was questioning my dad on how he knows the bible is right, and i said βwhat about muslims? they have a holy book, too, and it says itβs right.β
his reply: βno, we KNOW weβre right. muslims just THINK theyβre right.β
*asterisking this b/c i later came back to organized religion
cannot stress enough that "separate the art from the artist" was meant for private individuals reconciling the art they love with its flawed creators and not meant for the ceo of a company driving a dump truck of money up to a bigot's front porch

Even white Dems make this mistake constantly:
When they see 90%+ of Black voters voting for a candidate, they cannot accept that this means that the candidate is an overwhelmingly better choice than the others.
Instead, they believe that "Black people vote for Black people! Racial solidarity!π€‘"
yyyyyeah. but hey, at least it wasn't lower!
nice that there is a bottom for the press corps, at least
lol right!!

In 1995 I helped Eric move some belongings out of his parents house in Boulder. He was still recovering from having his legs broken & had to use a cane. He's an awesome dude. Here's to his recovery.
i hear this, but also believe βif we ignore or change all the rules in our favor, weβll get to make new rules (which will obviously then last forever)β is the pretty clearly the wrong way to go about it, long-term
