Just learned that Charles Bukowski wrote about a character named 'Franky Cannon' (my name) in his 1972 (City Lights) book, "Erections, Ejaculations, Exhibitions and General Tales of Ordinary Madness," which was later split into two volumes and republished as "The Most Beautiful Woman in Town." Neat🤷‍♂️

Why oh why did I decide to read these two books simultaneously: they couldn't be more different in tone and topic: Octavia Butler's "Parable of the Sower" and David Foster Wallace's "A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again". Or, perhaps they're the perfect pairing:
