Interesting how ships traversing the Strait are labelling themselves on AIS "CHINAOWNERALLCHINESE", another is "CHINA OWNER&CREW".
Scientists are calling on UN Member States to fully implement UNGA Resolution 61/105 and protect vulnerable marine ecosystems, including seamounts, from destructive bottom-contact fishing.

It is the cleaner fish fishery yes. Wrasse are totally overlooked here despite their ecological importance, and the fishery for them has been very badly run. Protection in MPAs is a step forward, but there’s still more to do on the wider fishery.
An important development is that these fish have been recognised as “typical species” of protected features. There are a lot of other species and places which can benefit from this approach. More to come on this.
And to our relatively new “regulator of regulators” Environmental Standards Scotland, who picked this up and required action from Government. It has all taken too long, but progress has happened.
