Day 10 is Azure Damselfly, a common species across Britain, most abundant from May-July. Males are blue, females are green or blue. They breed in ponds, the edges of larger waterbodies and slow-flowing streams with aquatic vegetation.
This is appalling. And not just because it's in the Cairngorms National Park.

"After building a 3D model of a hedgehog's ear, the scientists found it has a stiff chain of bones that allows high-pitched sounds to pass through efficiently, in a similar way to echolocating bats." 😮https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c8d52n0dnzro

The failure of the #warwickshirewildlifetrust staff and their closure and abandonment of their own purpose built #Nature #Conservation centre has left behind many angry people, lots of talk about how badly it was run and how badly people were treated. #wildlifetrusts @craigbennett3.bsky.social
Nordy Bank
Another shot along the ramparts of Nordy Bank hill fort on Brown Clee, with Caer Caradoc standing out in the distance. A magical day of mist and sunshine. #Shropshire

I play with stones and
sit beside the stream,
I search for flowers and
walk around the temple.
Sometimes I listen to the
songs of birds;
The sounds of spring are
everywhere.

Red Sword-grass moth sitting on wooden plank
Red Sword-grass not a rare moth nationally, but very rare on the Dungeness peninsular, 1 in2021 was the first since 1963, my one today is I believe the second. No doubt SC will put me right if necessary.

My local road verges are looking absolutely Sweet Violetastic at the moment. 😍
Female Common Earwigs Forficula auricularia are very good mothers. After spending the winter guarding her batch of eggs she cares for the nymphs for several weeks and regurgitates food for them. The nymphs will disperse when they are large enough to fend for themselves. Dartmoor, Devon

Willow Tits going, going...
The tide of decline now lapping over the former heartlands of South Yorks. If anyone complacently tells you their region still has plenty of Willow Tits doing well, remind them that Yorkshire and Lincolnshire were core areas 15 years ago. Now they're mostly gone.

Doing the moth traps at the Trout Farm this morning when I heard a 'twik' call high overhead. I looked up expecting to see a Corn Bunting. What I did see took a second to register....a Dipper!! I've never seen one from underneath before! It carried on flying high up along the Sydling Valley!!
