There are only two kinds of war. Complete and incomplete. Anyone who says differently is pushing a radical ideology on our children.

So completely unacceptable & unamerican. I've worked my whole career to make sure my communityβ€”humanists, atheists, agnosticsβ€”knows Islamophobia is never ok in any form. Especially in this pure uncut version, but any way at all. The work goes on. All communities of belief and conscience must do it.

If tech makes people act like cult members, it's because they ARE cult members. The tech companies, at least for too many of us, ARE the cults. Remember, if it's free, you're the product.

I think this deserves at least as much sustained attention from US media as Claudine Gay's dissertation

But we're going to touch the stove and we'll be touching it more than probably ever before. And we're not going to get burned. We're not going to get burned

Would love to but can almost never get to early evening events these days, am making dinner for my kids and doing their bedtimes those hours (and the rare exceptions are when I have to do my own work, sigh). But we can include a link in our newsletter to a few thousand humanists if you want :)

They used to compare Elon to Iron Man but a story like this casts him as more of a Spider Man, except without the great power, or, really, any responsibility whatsoever

Tesla sued after Austin shooting suspect allegedly assaulted co-worker A 65-year-old woman says the automaker ignored warning signs before Ndiaga Diagne, the suspect in Sunday’s mass shooting, assaulted her. She sued Thursday.

the Austin mass shooter was a Tesla employee who assaulted a coworker during a company-allowed prayer break late last year

the company refused to give the victim her assailant's name so she could press charges, and he went on to become a mass shooter

Corporate Media Buries Story of US and Israel Killing 168 in Girls School Attack No front-page stories in NYT, WSJ, WaPo. No mention on NBC and CBS Sunday Shows. No stand alone segments on Evening News shows. A death count on par with the OKC bombing is relegated to the back page.

I wrote about how the US and Israel carried out an attack on an Iranian girls school on par with the OKC bombing and US media relegated it to a back page story. No stand alone evening news segments, no front page stories, it made A11 in the NYT then everyone moved on.

Have been slowly watching Munich all week because of this piece! Kushner has been one of my absolute favorite writers for 25+ years but I never realized I should see it.

One of the biggest lies silicon valley figures and their friends have told is that they are atheists. This is spot on.

Spent years researching the idea that Silicon Valley tech/AI have become the world's most powerful religion, and after the book tour I was so sick of social media that I took last year off here and mostly anywhere else. But it's still fun at times! Post-return highlight=a reskeet from @gregpak.net!πŸ™

Let me be clear: I’m glad Kristi Noem was fired. But we still have to abolish ICE.

Millions of good and sincere believers practice faith from a place of earnest and humble conviction.

Then there are millions who turn to religion out of utter panic at all the choices a life of free thought requires.

Asking Google to manage your family is 100% a flight from ethical responsibility

Some religions sort of leave you alone to think for yourself most of the time. Then there are sects that won't let a single meal, snack, piss, or even breath go by without inserting a ritual to remind you of your obligations to their God. The tech religion is increasingly determined to be the latter

This 🧡makes clear: AI makes it much easier to select and hit 1000s of "targets" (human lives & institutions!) regardless of accuracy or judgement. AI then helps turn careful reporting on such into useless slop. We're investing trillions into a tool for producing the fog of war, at scale.

Actually the only way to defeat drug cartels is to address the demand, which requires the literal opposite of war: care. But he doesn’t give a shit about helping people with substance use disorder.
