Humanity heating planet faster than ever before, study finds Researchers identify sharp rise to about 0.35C every decade, after excluding natural fluctuations such as El NiΓ±o

The Guardian on our new study, which shows that global heating is significantly gathering speed. Our efforts to overcome our fossil fuel addiction should do the same.

Europe’s Noise Capital Tries to Turn Down the Volume To combat the ill effects of urban noise pollution, Paris is deploying automated sensors and cracking down on the loudest vehicles.

β€œThe effort to quiet Paris complements the wider campaign to make Paris greener, cleaner & less car-dependent, which include vehicle restrictions in the center, crackdowns on polluting vehicles, & an ambitious expansion of bike networks. Those have cut the city’s average noise level by 2 decibels.”

Netflix Backs Out of Bid for Warner Bros., Paving Way for an Ellison Takeover

The richest man owns X.

The second and third richest men control Google.

The fourth richest man owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

The fifth richest man owns The Washington Post.

And now the sixth richest could soon take over both Paramount and Warner Bros.

See the problem here?

Has anyone seen or worked on a similar survey of climate change coverage by media outlets outside of the US?

Putin tried to freeze Ukraine. Instead, he sparked an energy Revolution. Russia is bombing fossil-fueled power plants, so the country is building solar and wind.

β€œAttacking decentralized solar power installations is not economically rational. Missiles & drones are expensive & significantly disrupting such systems would require a large number of strikes, while the overall impact on the energy system would remain limited.”

It’s the Renault 4E-tech, have heard some great things. And it looks good, too. 😎 France extended its EV subsidy on select models through the end of 2026. Ours came out to just under €4000.

Nigeria and Kenya lead Africa’s push for electric vans assembled from Chinese EV kits E-mobility companies in Africa are beginning local assembly of electric vans and taxis using Chinese-made kits and innovative financing to spread use of electric public transport across the continent.

β€œThis feat is a clear signal that electric mobility in Nigeria is practical, scalable and ready for adoption,” Falaye said.

It is simple economics....

"EV charging costs average about $3 for up to 200 kilometers (123 miles), compared with more than $15 in petrol costs for similar distances."

Thanks - I've since seen a few other references to mites as well. The bird really did look distressed. I was fairly close and it didn't even attempt to fly away, it just looking back and forth quickly and nervously.

For Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme, #branchbirds, an Eurasian Blackbird I spotted this afternoon in Nice. It's not uncommon for blackbirds to become bald, but this one clearly appeared in distress - unless his appearance lends the illusion of distress. Any idea on what might have happened to this bird?

Chart: The energy transition attracted record investment in 2025 Investors around the world spent $2.3 trillion on renewables, batteries, power grids, EVs, and more. Meanwhile, investment in fossil fuel supply dropped.

Trump’s corrupt efforts to prop up his polluting fossil fuel donors can’t change the direction of our clean energy future.

Scientists thought they understood global warming. Then the past three years happened. The fastest warming period since 1880 occurred in the past 30 years, according to a Washington Post analysis of NASA data.

Even as elites abandon any pretense of giving a shit ... climate change is accelerating.

kind of funny that an olympian said they are here to represent "compassion, respect, and love for others" and some people automatically knew that was a statement against them

NEW: The EU’s reversal of the 2035 car CO2 target will create huge uncertainty in the EV market and could cause EV market share to fall between 50-95% by 2035 instead of 100%.

The proposal would also push car CO2 emissions 10% higher than under the current target.

A breakdown of T&E’s analysis 🧡

A study by energy think tank Ember found that the EU’s electricity transition reached a new milestone in 2025 with wind and solar generating more power than fossil fuels for the first time.

For today's #BirdOfTheDay theme #ShortBeaks, here are a few shots of a House Sparrow with leucism snapped a few days ago in central Nice, France. Can someone point me to info about how common leucism is in sparrows? Or in birds around the Mediterranean? Thank you!
