I updated Gompl, my little scripting language written in GDScript. It now supports function definitions, though not yet with parameters.

spooked myself when doing some #dreamcast #gamedev . I haven't implemented any kind of mesh animation yet but when I made this quick test character, they seemed to turn their head to follow me
(head had inverted normals and is drawn 'in reverse')
Essential feature implemented: Hatshot

Back in my day kid, we didn't have crosshairs #gamedev
one of my first couple of LDJAMs I uploaded a real disaster of a broken game and you posted a positive comment anyway, i won't say you saved my life but it definitely helped keep me jamming ๐
(Sorry for the repeated uploads, my librewolf browser keeps replacing these images with blanks)

I showed this to someone with no programming background and they defaulted to trying to parse it as some kind of lewd sex post, with moderate success
#gamedev devlog 000, prototyping an untitled low-level flight game that uses dual analogue joysticks (i.e #HOSAS or #HOTAS)

I made a small homebrew 6-axis #flightsim to put the #hotas joysticks through their paces today www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vTV...
Its a vital part of the borrelnootjes backstory
Honestly thought this was a boxed version of the actual Normans Sky for a minute ๐ณ nothke.itch.io/normans-sky
how high are the walls?
A screenshot of Enigma Heart: a pixel art scene of a room in a medieval-style house with timber framing an walls that are gray brick at the base before transitioning to lavender plaster. There is a table with a sword and shield on it, a bookshelf, a bed flanked by two nightstands, a fireplace, and a table with a bowl of fruit on it, along with firewood in piles near the fireplace. Zalia, the heroine of the game: a dark-skinned woman with a purple streak in her hair and wearing purple, white, and teal, stands in the middle of the room. On the nightstand is a portrait of Esme, her love interest: a woman with red hair. A status bar at the top of the screenshot shows the player's health, level, mana, and experience.
A screenshot of Enigma Heart: a pixel art scene of the interior of a building made of red wood with light-colored hardwood floors. The room is a boat workshop: filled with workbenches, half-filled boats, sails, and an anchor. There's a brick fireplace against the wall, and a bed in the foreground. In the room are Gage, a man wearing a leather apron and a very bright green hat, and Zalia, the main character, a woman wearing purple and white and teal, and with a purple streak in her hair.
Pixel art scene from Enigma Heart. Zalia and Priscilla are on a dock: Zalia sitting on a crate, Priscilla standing. The long tails of Priscilla's pirate-style headband are blowing in the window. Both have their backs turned to the camera. It's sunset, with the sky in shades of gold, orange, and purple, with gold and orange clouds. The lighting is low, and slightly reddish. The ocean stretches off to the horizon. A text box, indicating Zalia is speaking, reads, "This is nice."
Zalia is climbing a ladder through a thin vertical tunnel deep in a dark cave. The only light in the scene is cast off by glowing mushrooms, giving the entire scene an eerie cyan glow. In the middle of the screen, a horizontal tunnel cuts across Zalia's path. There are two spinning blade discs inside the horizontal tunnel, that presumably move back and forth. Inside, as if shredded by them, is a dead goblin.
Most of the work on Enigma Heart for the past few weeks has been building environments and writing scripts for the end of the first act. We're getting close!

no no, the 'world', foone finally turned the entire planet into a megakeyboard
he said it wasn't her fault! Seems a bit hard to replace her over an honest accident
I still didn't get around to watching this. Soon!
Been procrastinating from #gamedev today... by doing some gamedev. A little #nes / #famicom sidescrolling prototype written in assembly
#nesdev
it goes further: Yu Suzuki had a oh-shit-the-boss-is-here button installed on his devkits that'd corrupt the screen and make the game look visibly "unfinished", in order to keep his boss from trying to force the game out the door ASAP shmuplations.com/afterburner/

This is the only dizzy game I ever finished. The instadeath was hard but the coin search was brutal ๐ฐ
Number 58 on the list of things that are bad about microtransactions in games: when you play the re-release with all of the content included, you're instantly handed a pile of game breaking equipment, joke costumes, and more in-game currency than you'll need.
that's great. I notice the nesbag page states that steamworks integration isn't possible due to licensing, I wonder if there's any possible workaround for that?
My only complaint with the series is that Nimitz doesn't get more page-time ๐ฟ
Working on my long-term #NES game, trying to cram a little too much into 40KB. I could go bigger but I really want to make at least one 'nrom' game that doesn't need extra mapper hardware on the cart.
Included obligatory glitched out failed map loading, #famicom errors always fun

There'd be no windows installs in this house if my son wasn't an avid roblox and fortnite player. Both of them 'need' windows for their invasive anti-cheat ๐
oof, guess it's due to this gamurs.group/blog/gamurs-...
even with the strong prefix of 'Weird' I still read that as 'ai' and for a few horrible moments feared you were willingly attending a chatgpt concert or something
