recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best. It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence relies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't.

However, in my opinion, at this point it's hardly about how to handle a case like Six/Gem and more just how to conduct and carry yourself as an organization under the name Splat Safety Committee. Inciting further harassment and drama for no tangible gain is not how to prioritize community safety.
Did you make an account today just to defend SSC? Anyway that's a really shitty analogy imo because
1. there were 2 people involved so the perpetrator was obvious, the question was the validity of the claim, which is completely different
2. police and and a restraining order were involved
I want to begin by saying that I am not close to Jared or Madness, these thoughts are my own, and I apologize for not speaking up sooner
Jared's statement emits ignorance and foolishness.
Whether you agree with the claim or not is kind of irrelevant, which is why I left that out of my reply altogether. If someone feels so unsafe in the community that they get police and a restraining order involved, imo you have an obligation as Splat SAFETY to do something
I understand that, I just think the best course of action for the sake of the community's safety would've been to make your response at a more appropriate time. There's a level of accountability that has to be taken, and today's actions haven't convinced me that SS will keep the community safe.
This will bring more negative attention to the community right before its biggest celebration and event ever.
And, because of that, this will cause myself and many others to not trust Splat Safety, as the reckless release of this doc does nothing to make this community safer. Hope it was worth it.
So, back to my initial question. What does this video/document accomplish?
This will undoubtedly lead to Six and iMad getting harassed even more, even if that wasn't the intent.
This will cause victims to continue to be afraid to come forward with their stories bc of how this case was mishandled.

However, the biggest issue is that, at the end of the day, the org is called Splat Safety, not Splat Who Was Right and Wrong. A member of the community tried to express that she felt unsafe, and SS not only failed her last year, but failed once again by reigniting the

After reading the whole doc/script, I'm just left wondering what's the point of making this video now? What does doing this resolve? How does its existence improve the community and make it safer?
Naturally, the answer's pretty obvious, and that's to re-legitimize the Splat Safety org, but
LTC 2024 was by far the best weekend of my life. I saw so many great friends, I got to fulfill my dream of commentating at a major LAN with some of the best to ever do it, watching Moonlight in grands was unforgettable, it was just magical. I can't wait until I can go to my next LAN
