Grammarly Is Facing a Class Action Lawsuit Over Its AI βExpert Reviewβ Feature
The feature, which Grammarly shut down Wednesday, presented editing suggestions as if they came from established authors and academicsβwithout their consent.
I'm suing Grammarly over its paid AI feature that presented editing suggestions as if they came from me - and many other writers and journalists - without consent.
State law requires consent before someone's name can be used for commercial purposes.

Nepal's Gen Z Used TikTok and Discord to Win a Historic Election
The election of rapper-turned politician Balen Shah was shaped by platforms and algorithms built on the other side of the world, writes Aaradhyaa Gyawali.
Did you know that Nepal had a high-stakes election last week? That the backstory involved Discord, a youth movement, and a rapper-turned-politician? I didn't - at least until a student of mine told me. She wrote it up for others to learn too: www.techpolicy.press/nepals-gen-z...

LOKI: Proactively Discovering Online Scam Websites by Mining Toxic Search Queries - NDSS Symposium

Waiting for victims to report Internet scams is a losing game. Paudel and Stringhini propose LOKI, a data-driven framework that proactively hunts for fraud. By mining toxic search queries, it automatically surfaces tens of thousands of undiscovered scam sites. www.ndss-symposium.org/ndss-paper/l...

Model on the Loewe runway wearing a smooth beige leather coat featuring a prominent, structured throat latch. The rigid collar contrasts sharply with a tight black fabric hood framing the face and large, reflective shield-style dark sunglasses, creating a futuristic yet highly utilitarian aesthetic.
Model on the Saint Laurent runway wearing a cropped, voluminous grey herringbone bomber jacket. The outerwear is fastened tightly at the neck with dark throat latch buttons, emphasizing the broad, rounded shoulders and cinched waist, paired elegantly with relaxed black trousers.
Model walking the Saint Laurent runway in a deeply draped, highly reflective black vinyl coat. The garment features an exaggerated, high-fastened funnel neck with a structured throat latch that creates a severe, protective, and polished silhouette, styled with a bare leg and sheer black tights.
Blonde model standing in a sparsely decorated, mirrored room wearing a BCBGMAXAZRIA sleeveless navy blue leather trench dress. The dress is defined by a thick, prominent throat latch collar and a matching belted waist, grounded by opaque black tights and black crocodile-embossed pointed-toe knee-high boots.
The "throat latch" is also everywhere this Fall runway. Weather-proofing, but make it high fashion.

I'm always telling people to take notes for their memoirs. It's so easy to forget, but just as easy to jot things down. Cindy actually did step two and wrote the thing! I've been in awe of her since she gave me my first non-astrophysics job.

A full-length runway shot of Mona Tougaard presenting look 46 from the Givenchy Fall RTW collection. The halter-style black gown is adorned with vibrant botanical embroidery. Dramatic, floor-length fringe in variegated strands of crimson, dusty pink, and sage green hangs from the arms and lower skirt, swishing around the model's feet to create a sense of fluid, colorful movement.
A detailed close-up of Mona Tougaard in Givenchy Fall RTW look 46. The black gown features intricate, oversized embroidery of red poppies and orange roses. Long, dense tassels of fringe in shades of deep burgundy, sunset coral, and pale blonde cascade from the sleeves and skirt, creating a heavy, tactile contrast against the dark fabric.

A vintage hobnail glass oil lamp sits on a wooden windowsill. It features two globes of translucent, deep cranberry-pink glass covered in a uniform pattern of small, raised bumps. The top globe has a ruffled collar, while the bottom globe serves as the base.
The glass sections are separated by ornate, aged brass hardware with leaf-like detailing. A clear glass chimney extends from the top of the lamp. Outside the window, a snowy, wooded landscape is visible in soft focus. Green houseplants flank the lamp on both sides.
Loving this new antique: a hobnail glass oil lamp in a striking cranberry pink. The double-globe features a classic ruffled top and brass detailing. It looks perfect on the near the window against the winter backdrop.

Zero Day Clock
The gap between disclosure and exploitation is collapsing to zero.
Impressed by the new zerodayclock.com effort/collective/call highlighting that the window between vuln and exploit now must be assumed as t=0.
The call to action is solid, though sadly nothing terribly new. Secure by design, adapt policies and practices. Liability, eridacate classes of vulns.

Think of this as unlocking higher dimensions in cryptography, more space/options. By finding a way to map "abstract" algebra to complex geometry, researchers solved a key bottleneck. This gives us mathematically rigorous tools to secure the Internet against future quantum computers.

If I understand this correctly, major breakthrough in post-quantum cryptography. By solving the principal ideal problem in higher dimensions, we can now map complex algebra to geometric isogenies, unlocking new tools to secure the Internet against cryptographically relevant quantum attacks.

Indonesia to Ban YouTube, TikTok, Other Social Media Apps for Children Under 16
Indonesia is the latest country to block social media, saying the apps pose "increasingly real threats" to young people.
As promised, once again I emphasize that "children have the right to access information, to speak and to associate" and these age gating laws are intentionally designed to restrict their exercise of those rights. www.cnet.com/tech/service...
