This trial covers only financing terrorism but the fight for accountability isnβt over: Lafarge still faces investigation for complicity in crimes against humanity, unprecedented for a corporation.

No civilian in Aleppo, Suwayda, or anywhere in Syria should live under the terror of bombardment, killing, siege, and displacement after the fall of the tyrant's regime.
Stop the killing. We want to build a country for all.
The Syrian transitional authorities must assume their responsibility to prioritize the protection of civilians and keep them out of any fighting for power gains, and to resort to dialogue to resolve the conflict, not military solutions, to prevent further bloodshed and loss.
Residents of Aleppo lived through hours of terror after clashes erupted, believed to be between transitional government forces and armed Kurdish groups (Asayish), involving a violent exchange of gunfire and mortar shells.
One civilian was killed and many injured, according to Syria Civil Defense.
As world leaders meet with the interim president of #Syria this week at UN General Assembly, they must support the demands of Syriaβs civil society.

βJustice means healing for survivors and preservation of the truth for future generations. Itβs about ensuring civil society has the space to play its crucial role as watchdog for transparency, inclusivity, and accountability.β
"The world must ensure his promises become meaningful actions on the ground or we will continue to endure violence and the risk of civil war.β
βHis words were heard by every survivor, every family mourning the loss of their loved ones, familes of the missing and survivors of torture, and the whole of diverse Syria."
βAl-Sharaa promised to bring anyone who has blood on their hands to justice. This should mean prosecutions of all war criminals, including those crimes committed in the past eight months and by his own troops. It means rule of law, evidence preservation, fair trials and an end to hate speech.β
βAfter so many years of war crimes committed with impunity, we wanted his assurances that killing and arbitrary detention will end and meaningful inclusive dialogue will beginβ, said Ranim Ahmed of The Syria Campaign from New York, in reaction to Al-Sharaaβs address to #UNGA

Despite the months that have passed since the fall of the regime, these families continue to refuse silence, raising their voices everywhere to remind the world that there can be no peace and no stability without justice.
On the first anniversary of the Syrian revolution after the fall of Assadβs regime, the scene in Daraa was not merely a celebration, but a clear cry from the families of Syriaβs disappeared, demanding their right to justice, truth, and accountability.
The struggle to learn the truth about their fate, to achieve justice, and to hold perpetrators accountable will not stop.

Thousands of families in Syria are still searching for their loved ones who have been forcibly disappeared in prisons and at the hands of Assadβs regime as well as all other parties to the conflict.
Last June, families of detainees gathered at the National Museum in Damascus for the exhibition βFor Those Who Will Not Be Forgottenβ by artist Rania Najdi, as part of ongoing efforts since the fall of Assadβs regime to uncover the truth and achieve justice.
Through art and memory, the families of #Syria βs disappeared keep the names of their loved ones alive, reminding the world that enforced disappearance is an ongoing crime for which justice must be pursued.
