Yeah I never even finished Origins, the world being so huge and open made it 5 times as distracting to someone with ADHD given a million objectives of equal weight.

Fighting a pope who wields an ancient alien artifact in a secret vault underneath the Vatican was my favorite sort of Assassin's Creed nonsense, and the later games are less fun for moving away from that.
