Is there some reason we don’t use brick paving much anymore in America?

Wow! 36 of you have already submitted written testimony in support of an Inner Eastside for All! Thank you! It is incredibly important for Council to hear why ordinary Portlanders support more homes for all our neighbors! www.portland.gov/council/docu...

If local governments want to provide relief from high gas prices RIGHT NOW:

1. Quick build bike and scooter lanes that are languishing as plans. Call it temporary, just cut the process theatre and make it happen. Get staff to scope more.

2. Flex general funding to run more transit service.

And then the Portland fire marshal will override it on safety concerns.

First bill of its kind in the US! πŸ‘πŸ‘

Int’l code harmonization, cut out of this, was opposed by one (1) interest group: the Big Four elevator companies whose outsize profits are protected by the US’s unique code.

Let’s win the whole loaf in Oregon in 2027 & build the accessible homes we’ll need

Things can change, sometimes for the better.

I've found you need to follow a good amount of people to keep your timeline busy but once I did that, it worked fine for me.

Alas. Unintended consequences with one size fits all mandates. That’s how perfect becomes the enemy of good. 🫠

I would love if nw 10th and 11th could be dedicated to ped/bike/rail. I own property on that street. Car traffic is minimal and it would make bike/rail so easy/pleasant. Remove three lanes, keep one local access lane for existing garages.

The DOJ released evidence, which the FBI deemed credible, that the President of the United States sexually and physically assaulted a 13 year old girl AND she was afraid to talk about it because Trump would kill herβ€”and it’s somehow not the biggest scandal in American history?

Cars have gotten wildly expensive (and big!). Gas is extremely expensive. Single family homes with attached garages are unattainable in most metros. Transit and bike infrastructure are needed everywhere.

That ramp seems over engineered and doubles the footprint of the thing. A small ramp with no rails would look much nicer.

It’s becoming a problem for single-stair reform as well. Portland’s fire marshal is insisting (unreasonably, IMO) that four-story single-stair buildings are not allowed if a street has overhead power lines, because they could impede aerial ladder access www.portland.gov/ppd/document...

I’d be willing to bet a lot of money that Jersey barriers are significantly cheaper than this paint and plastic.

It’s not hardening if it doesn’t damage the car when hit. This plastic garbage is just more car infrastructure that’ll need replacement in a few weeks.

This report is excellent, worth reading for any regulator or policy maker who wants to understand why we still aren’t building affordable units In Portland.

You don’t need a lot of car lanes and parking if no one drives.

Fire safety standards should be drafted by public servants who report to our elected representatives. Those public servants should conduct research and use cost-benefit analyses to evaluate proposed code provisions.

Our codes should NOT be written by influence peddlers who pay to play.

Today I learned here in Portland teachers are being asked to either take 3 furlough days or cut 170 full time teaching positions. My son is in a blended class of 4/5th graders because they didn’t have enough money for another teacher. Fuck off

The rest of the world will learn an important lesson from China. Build out your renewables so you aren't as dependent on imported fossil fuels and the whims of idiots.

This, along with repealing the Citizens United decision, are two important changes necessary to fix our awful two party political status quo.
