I read a really good essay once about Skyfall that touches on how it's sequences are moving back in time stylistically through the ages of Bond-esque action movies which has always stuck with me!

Yeah, I'd put Skyfall as my favourite of the Craig ones. The whole opening sequence is one of the best action pieces in the series, and the bit where Bond opens his garage to reveal the classic Aston Martin and the score kicks in is how you do a franchise callback properly.
