Anybody got tips on trying to transition to vegetarian but keeping up protein and other filling stuff for someone with a high physical labor job?
Easy, relatively cheap, and filling meal prep lunches is a plus. I do have access to a microwave at work.
Every now and then a skewer of popular culture penetrates the well sealed rock I live under and I ask questions like “Wait, Fortnite is still a thing?”
And then I learn that it’s not only still a thing but it’s still massive.

As someone who works in physical labor, I have no idea how people have full time jobs and still find the energy to engage in artistic expression.
By the end of the day I’m fried, and what weekend is left over after errands and other responsibilities I have to use to recover.
Anyway, I’m rotting in a warehouse.
I genuinely don’t know how much longer I can do this work grind without going insane.
We’re meant to be creators, helpers, guardians - things that matter to others in direct and tangible ways.
This? This is just endless slog. It’s not even just the sameness of it, it’s the inanity.
Turns out accepting new knowledge, being able and willing to change your mind and perspective, and being able to identify and appreciate good faith experts who can provide valuable insight are more important traits than ignorant macho chest thumping. Who knew?

These are the people who don’t understand why you’d read a book when a movie exists, why you’d buy a vinyl when you can stream, why you care if a plagiarism bot created what you consume instead of a person, etc.
The point is not the appreciation of art, the point is simply voracious consumption

But it seems to me the truly radical position, in the derogatory sense of the term used by those rural folks I grew up around, is to believe the inverse. What has gone wrong with your brain that you’ve comfortably established yourself in the belief that people should, in fact, needlessly suffer?
Growing up in rural southern US, the term radical was always spat with venom and spite. Then as I got older I started to realize that “radical” simply meant the belief that people should have food, shelter, and should not suffer needlessly. I still can’t fathom how such a stance garners so much hate

In other words: I’ve long since stopped caring about whatever the new big shows/movies on [insert corporate streaming platform here] are and want to put my money where my mouth is in support of indie creators, but would really prefer not to spread the budget thin over a bunch of separate patreons
