Also includes an action log. It’s 1 person’s job during an emergency to keep track of key times etc

Once registers are done the office print off an emergency roll and that gets put into the bag in my office daily. Hi viz jackets too for key coordinator roles
All action cards are for specific roles in an emergency and allocated to people. We practice them being handed out and what to do

Yes. Emergency Grab bags: laminated emergency action cards with wax pencils, emergency tape, torches, silver blankets, whistle, separate sealed security pouch with up to date parent contact details, fidgets/transit toys to support children who need them. Probably other stuff!!

So that’s a wrap! Just about an ex-headteacher…at least I’ve handed my keys in.
The day has passed in a whirlwind of brilliant performances and lovely gifts. A specially commissioned glass artwork, a memory jar with a separate memory for me from each child for me to dip into when needed

I honestly can’t stop touching it. It’s heavy, thick and super soft. Definitely covering the bed when I sleep in the camper New Year’s Eve

Child was concerned that there was a loose thread on an edge. I told her that made it even more special cos it showed it’s handmade. I couldn’t put it away today…had to keep looking at it

Touched very much today by this beautiful hand crocheted blanket specially made to match my van from one of my Y6 pupils and her nan. Both me and her mum cried today when I opened it

Completely off topic but the pup has been posing this evening

So we’ve finally got to it…I have one more get up as a Headteacher.

I continue to be amazed that I have been recruiting for SEND based practioners very recently with candidates (with school-based experience) who have never heard of APDR. Definitely a question for Govs to ask schools

Again- it’s having an adult that has built a positive relationship…an utter joy to see a child thrive. The right person would know all this about your son, be able to scaffold learning properly and recognise/celebrate success

Go ahead. I don’t know how it works on here though!

Mine too!! That’s what adds to life’s amazing variety. I surround myself with people that accept that and support each other when we need it. I think it helps us to understand our learners

I’d say he doesn’t need nurture necessarily, just adaptation of curriculum delivered in the most appropriate way for him to access

Jumping in on other posts now!! We do this as soon/for as long as child needs it. We’ve done allsorts including me going along to provide overnight cover as an adult awake for a child that needed it. Social story should be an absolutely simple thing to do early doors!

Do you have local mainstream schools with Resource bases? My school was commissioned to provide a small class as a ‘hybrid’ where learners could be supported in a small cohort but still access the parts of mainstream as and when they are able (which is different every day as you can imagine!!)

It’ll take time for him to engage. Environment and support must come first. We’ve pushed back to ensure LA provide resource for us to deliver this a number of times- I’m sure there will be schools near you that do this too

Just boils my head for how much families need to fight!

I may be jumping in between posts now. My school has taught a number of learners demonstrating PDA traits. It takes work (and dedicated adult support) but we’ve had success when a strong relationship is built and task choices are then offered

23.11.2024 18:25 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 3 📌 0

PDA is a difficult one. Many authorities still won’t recognise this. Does their EP assessment point to strategies to support (whether or not they refer to PDA)? The provision needed would still get included in Section F from the assessment

I don’t want to make assumptions about your child’s situation but get out and look at schools. There are schools that work hard to support neurodivergent learners throughout them

Courts will accept late evidence. I think you can also look at the Right to Choose system for independent assessments

23.11.2024 18:05 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

This has come up as a question for us before. It would be worth checking with the county’s Tribunals officer or your child’s SEND officer

23.11.2024 18:03 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

Emergency review may provide the opportunity for changes to be made to ensure your child is receiving provision they need?

23.11.2024 18:02 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

I think the only stopping of a Tribunal is if you withdraw it. Evidence is submitted to court a number of weeks before the date. That would include the EHC as it stands then

23.11.2024 18:00 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

I believe the emergency review is entirely separate from tribunal. I have been part of tribunals which have been scheduled since before EHCPs have had a different placement named

What a coincidence that I’m in a webinar right now hearing about the work of @tobygreany.bsky.social when he pops up on my feed!

School Christmas tree is going up next week ready for the Christmas Fayre on Friday. Stage for Nativity the following week

That does mean it’s acceptable to put mine up at home doesn’t it?
