I did went back and watched a couple episodes of Lupin III part 1 to see if my comparison was right or if i was making a strawman and turns out i was actually downplaying it in my mind (at least for the episodes i re-watched)

(Keep in mind tho that there were always some episodes that felt different from the others within their segments)

I'm considering re-watching Part 1 before continuing to confirm what i think were the main differences or if i just glorified it in my mind after the rough start of Part 2 🥴

The last 10 or so episodes had a lot of gems that i really enjoyed and made up some of the things that bothered me in the other episodes.
The characters felt like they had more agency again instead of doing "their thing" for the 100th time just because it's "their thing".

I think the biggest victim of this was Fujiko and Zenigata (and their respective interactions with Lupin).
They all felt dumbed down from their Part 1 counterparts...
(which may just come from Part 1 being more chaotic in general...)

However despite the episodes often being otherwise good, there was still a stretch where most of the episodes felt a little repetitive.
The main characters and their interactions felt like following set tropes instead of being utilized creatively.

Finished Lupin III Part 2.
I really didn't like the first ~28 episodes and considered skipping many times but am glad i didn't, because there was a noticeable improvement in frequency of episodes i found entertaining compared to before!

I've just finished Lupin III part 2 episode 145 and it gave me a lot of what i think felt missing in the rest of part 2 (which feels like a downgrade from part 1)

However episode 145 was outstanding

the makers likely didn't know much about art or graphic design and just chose one bright and one dark for each of the primary and secondary colors resulting in the super saturated look. It's logical from the pov of someone who doesn't know about how colors work
