I wish everyone could have heard the cackle that left my mouth when I saw this headline, and the subsequent cackles that left my mouth as I read this truly embarrassing blog.

Hey all I'm looking for work!
I'm experienced in character design and costume for games and film as well as illustration for books and TTRPGS. I'm based out of BC Canada looking for freelance or full time. My portfolio is linked in the first comment, thank you for shares!
I'm a Sr. Customer Success Engineer (I code, write tutorials, write docs, and interact with the devs who use our product)
What that means this week is "I can't get anything done for our customers because I'm too overloaded with helping our customers."
Helps bail out Trump from his own idiotic decisions, while reducing gov revenue and will earn no credit from voters in the process. Brilliant.

Structurally the prequels are a very accurate depiction of how countries find themselves at war and spiral into fascism. Bickering diplomats, grasping pre-dictatorial politicians, a useful fool, a pampered populace, etc. Shame Lucas has no flare for dialog or getting the best from his actors.
BREAKING: Alabama Governor Kay Ivey commuted the death sentence of Sonny Burton.
The state was set to execute Sonny for a crime he didn't commit, but tens of thousands of people nationwide demanded justice โ and our voices were heard.
Well it appears they weren't planning to swap CEOs at all - Jay stepped down and they had to fill the position. Thus the "interim" tag on Toni. If they'd been changing CEOs to do a big scale-and-enshittify push, it wouldn't be an interim guy stepping in from their board to run things.
I don't think either of these things are true. I just think it require runnings a company in a different way than they are often run. And while Toni is indeed a VC, he's also been CEO of Automattic, and build up his own company. He was a CEO first before becoming a VC. Might help, might not. ๐คท
It's still a novelty when I walk by two French people having a conversation and I fully understand it. Congratulations to the woman who is a new grandmother as of last night. ๐
To restore democracy and create a fairer, safer, greener world, we need massive taxes on the ultra-rich. As in the 1940s. People get confused about this. The main purpose of such taxes is *not* to raise revenue. The point is to stop the few dominating the many. It's an essential democratic measure.
It is THE fundamental problem. To survive and prosper we must make billionaires history. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
Oh and FWIW I thought Jay was an excellent steward for the early site, for the most part. She clearly has a ton of vision, is intelligent and driven, and shepherded it through the hardest part of any startup's life: getting traction. But her active antagonizing of the userbase was ... perplexing.
They could make BlueSky profitable _right now_ with a simple suite of tools that many users, myself included, would pay for. From there, they can build sustainably and ultimately still reach a big payout for their initial VC investors. It can be done. It just takes a measured approach to operation.
Basically I want to see Bsky run like a business and not like a Silicon Valley "growth is all that matters, raise raise raise, spend spend spend, we'll monetize later" startup, because the latter always, always, ALWAYS ends up deeply enshittified. It's built into the process and is unavoidable.
Cautiously optimistic about BlueSky's new interim CEO. I know people who've worked with him and they say good things. I'm hoping the key focuses moving forward will be sustained but rational growth, monetization in a way that doesn't err toward enshittification, and improved moderation policies.
If the Dems who win in the 2026 midterms get squeamish about prosecuting this administration, we'll need to elect a bunch of new people running on Nuremberg shit for 2028. This isn't a joke. It's the law. It's justice. Biden let Trump back in the WH and this happened because Joe didn't do his job
One thing I will say about having my extremely stress-inducing french lessons immediately after work on Mondays is that it makes Tuesday so much more enjoyable than Tuesday has any right being.
This puts me at 10 people released. I filed my 1st habeas petition 29 days ago. I am an incredibly small-time, nobody lawyer who knew nothing about immigration law the day I submitted that case. I barely know any more today. I had never sued the federal government and now I've beaten them 10 times.
I am shocked to learn this is actually underestimating costs, because it ignores the infrastructure costs.
This video is lowballing it.
A whole bunch of small things and a few major under-the hood things have happened in the last week or so. Here's what I've got: Major plumbing added for subscriptions. This site is now fully capable of supporting paid subscribers, and the only reason I'm not opening the beta this week is because I'm waiting on the French government to confirm I can legally operate a business here. Which might take a few days or might take months. Vive la France! Cleaned up a few visual display bugs. Feed unread pills never bump down to a second line now, feed titles never overlap dates, and I fixed a border color that wasn't properly using theme values. Fixed a few feed parsing bugs that were causing some feeds to break the site. It now fails much more gracefully in the event it can't parse something, and now longer impacts the entire grid page. About a million tiny little tweaks, catching edge cases and improving the overall stability and performance of the site. See you soon (I hope) for the beta launch!
New patch notes up on SimpleRSS.dev! The site is basically ready to go into open beta, where anyone can sign up and use it on the free plan without needing an invite. If you've been looking for a good, easy RSS aggregator with both Grid and Timeline views, keep an eye out!
$5k is a fairly good advance for most authors. That's on selling a novel that the author probably worked on years. And again, that's a pretty good advance. Probably a major publisher.
People see the news when some unknown debut author gets, like, a $250k two-book deal but that's EXTREMELY RARE.
Basically, take the amount of money you think your favorite author gets, halve it, and then halve it again, and you have a number that's probably a lot closer to their actual earnings from writing.
"But I don't think they make that much!"
Halve that. Halve it again.
Yeah, I have no idea. I have a few more Nu Metal records coming, but only a handful, and in all cases they are one-offs. None of the bands ever made it to a second album for me.
My brother's two years younger than me and was a big Korn fan. But I don't think he still is? Honestly not sure.
I have this weird feeling that if I'd been 16 in 2000 instead of 23, this would've been a formative album for me. But I wasn't. That said, I enjoyed listening to it! But I also probably won't listen to it again for, like, ten years because it doesn't call to me like other older albums do.
I don't get why it's so hard to understand that "I hate Trump" is likely to translate to "I won't bother to turn out" more than "I will hold my nose and vote for someone I don't like"
When Democratic candidates inspire people, they win. When they don't, they don't.
