The moss-carpeted base of a tree, which has many arms, and a cute face, and makes you realise why history is full of people who went out for walks in the countryside and wrote stories about bullshit creatures and events.

Very much enjoying this mossy octo-bear creature I found hiding in a tree trunk on a walk in the Blackdown Hills.

My cat Roscoe and me in my garden (in 2016, not 1969). I am sitting on a wall wearing an afghan coat, pattered flares and a wide-brimmed felt hat and staring at a plastic bag that has been caught in a nearby hedge. Roscoe is wearing her signature black and white cardigan. There is a walking boot between us, filled with succulents. This used to be Roscoe's but was retired from its intended use when, at the age of 23, she surprisingly went up half a shoe size.

1969 was a wild and unforgettable time for both of us: the year the band broke up and we hit the road as a duo with no definite plans other than achieving a variety of transcendental states through our complete, uncompromising devotion to music.

Ein Klippschliefer hockt am Eingang einer Höhle und schaut den Betrachter mit seinen großen Knopfaugen direkt an. Er hat etwa den rundlichen Körperbau eines Murmeltieres, runde kleine Öhrchen und Pfötchen mit abgerundeten stumpfen Nägeln. Die kleinen Elefanten-Stoßzähne, die ich dazu erfunden habe, sind natürlich übertrieben. In Wahrheit besitzt der Klippschliefer aber tatsächlich stark verlängerte Eckzähne.

Man sieht nur wenigen Klippschliefern ihre Verwandtschaft mit dem Elefanten an. Manche Wissenschaftler halten sie auch für verwandt mit dem Wolpertinger.
