“Indigenous” is an interesting concept when it comes to the U.K. Who gets to decide how far back we’re going? The Normans? The Vikings? The Anglo-Saxons? The Romans? The Celts? The Beaker People? None of them came from here. We can’t even prove the Picts were aboriginal because they were wiped out.

This makes me so angry. And I don’t believe it reflects who we really are as a nation … I’m so sorry 🙏

I mean, at least he was self-aware enough to acknowledge it …? (I’m the Queen of finding silver linings 🫣)

I love how he posts his own statement to his own feed in quotation marks. The social media equivalent of referring to yourself in the third person …

It’s interesting - the far right in the US is advocating FOR family voting (because women can’t be trusted to vote in the best interests of their whole family).

Great point about SEND School community - it’s absolutely saved my sanity over the years.
In relation to these reforms, I can’t see how they are going to solve the so called “High Needs Overspend” (which is the main cause of financial pressure on the system), or the pressure on High Needs places.

If you want to use healthcare to get people back to work it’s simple, rebuild public health and tackle chronic illness.

Note how they’re still printing the photos by printing images of other publications’ front pages … The Spectator never fails to scale any available hypocritical moral hillock.

That would not be under British or Thames Valley Police jurisdiction. But all valid.

True (although proving she was brought to the U.K. for the purpose of exploitation is quite a practical challenge in the circumstances). No less horrendous really but it still wouldn’t make him a “nonce”.

Apologies - not my assumption at all - I found it (surprisingly) instructive and thought your other readers might also.

(The great success of Nazi propaganda was to embed the assumption that Nazis policies were widely supported - in reality they peaked in popularity in 1932, before they were in power, at the height of the unemployment crisis kicked off by the Great Depression, when they failed to win a majority.)

(I suppose if you look at the Third Reich, there were the fanatics who were driven by belief in their message - Goebbels, Himmler and Heidrich - and those more interested in what it could achieve - Göring, von Rippentrop and Speer. Collectively worse than they could have been separately.)

Do these people really believe what they say, or is it a relentless grift to take advantage of vulnerable voters? Neither is less worrying, and either way I feel like I’ve stumbled into an alternate reality.

Virginia Giuffre was 17 at the time of her allegations. Grim as he was 41, but she was not illegally young in the U.K. This is likely to be related to the allegation that he shared confidential information (which he had access to in his role as Trade Envoy) with Epstein.

Just this week I’ve had discussions about a council 4 or 5 years behind implementing multiple EHCP reviews; technical or non-specific wording used specifically to reduce obligation; banding review refusals as policy; and capping banding at unworkable low levels. It’s a joke …

EHCPs were touted as championing the best interests of the young person, separating decisions about need and provision from decisions about cost, but that is absolutely not how it works in practice.

13.02.2026 11:23 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

The very idea that an EHCP is a “golden ticket” is just laughable. Councils have been hamstrung by Central Government - I feel for them. But every stage is a battle, and even if you do manage to agree need, and compromise on a support package, Councils do not pay what it costs to implement.

Has anyone called him out on it directly? He’s astonishingly slippery when it comes to inaccurate or misleading statistics and is long gone by the time anyone can correct them so the damage is done; the impression is set in the minds of the impressionable.

The research seems to suggest this is what works best for most people. But even if every office were to have space for all staff to work once a week, you’d only need 1/4 of the commercial office space we have now (providing space for infrastructure etc).

Nothing deflates a big boss’ ego than his wife asking him to empty the cat litter between zoom calls.

They’ve got too much invested in commercial real estate. Leases are not being renewed. As 2008 showed us, too much finance jenga is stacked on bricks and mortar.
