Please donate if and as you're able to help Tiffany Willoughby-Herard defend herself from UC punitive discipline for her solidarity with students and Palestinians. They're dealing with a $9,500 legal bill. chuffed.org/project/1562...
In 1931, Albert Einstein and W.E.B. DuBois wrote to each other in German; DuBois asked Einstein to write an article for THE CRISIS.
DuBois translated it and wrote as intro:
"He is a brilliant advocate of disarmament and world Peace and he hates race prejudice because as a Jew he knows what it is."
"When he was done with his shift, he started his second job as the human labor behind AI sex bots, sexting with real lonely people he suspected were in the United States."
"She had been released on the streets of Pittsburgh β roughly an hour from her home, in a city unfamiliar to her β by ICE agents.
Five days later, she was dead at a Pittsburgh bus stop β alone, unresponsive, still wearing her ICE ankle monitor."
Mar 2 was freezing. They killed her.
One thing about our team is that we pay attention to what yβall say on here and what yβall need. The new migration tool is now mobile friendly π² and very easy to use.

Once again!
We do not have to be surprised in order to be outraged
"#LPE is the only force that has the kind of energy that the conservatives captured decades ago. It is a factory for Janissaries. Movements succeed when they produce intellectual converts who see the world in a new way. Thatβs how new hegemonies are brought into the world."
Donβt know how common it is but I keep seeing stories of international adoptees facing immigration action b/c of paperwork errors by adoptive parents or agencies from when they were brought to the U.S. and it really shows how hard the bureaucracy of migration is to navigate even for people from here
βThe event required every participant to sign a non-disclosure agreement, present identification and leave their backpack at the front of the room in order to attend.β
It reminds me of O Estado de S. Paulo, a Brazilian newspaper, during the military regime. They would fill the front pages with recipes and excerpts of poems to replace censored articles. (But ofc the main difference is that it was external censorship and they were actually doing journalism.)

"there will be more of the language of surveillance disguised as research; of politics and history calculated to render the suffering of millions mute; arrogant pseudo-empirical language crafted to lock creative people into cages of inferiority and hopelessness"

I talk a lot about how Article I of the Constitution (Congress) is not in effect, but Articles III and VI as well as their explicit powers from Marbury v Madison (Judiciary) are also not in effect.
A new survey from the Pew Research Council, conducted in January and published Thursday, found that the more Americans learn about data centers β and their effects on home energy costs, quality of life, the environment, local jobs, and tax revenue β the more cynical they feel about them.β

'AI Is African Intelligence': The Workers Who Train AI Are Fighting Back

Dr. Nair is right and this is part of the broader appeal to objectivity in LLMs that was noted over a decade ago by Safiya Noble in her engagement with Google search.
The objectivity of the machine, which is really cis-white abled bodied male objectivity, trumps the expertise of marginalized folks.

Gen Xers and Millennials must reject this & form new models of elderhood.
Many Gen Xers want to retire @ 55-60 like our Silent generation forebears who had pensions. Sadly, we're not eligible for Medicare until age 65 or Social Security until age 67.
If we can afford to live, we will step aside.

I am old enough to remember the vitriol directed at random humanities scholars' work complaining about the totalizing tendencies of capitalism to corrupt, colonize, or co-opt everything. I also lived long enough to read long term coverage of the literal attempt to privatize thinking in the newspaper
Appreciate the shout out to my @science.org essay in @axios.com
The Trump admin is not engaged in AI deregulation. Heavy-handed regulation is occurringβjust not the kind that addresses growing public concern about AI harms or has been subject to open democratic debate www.axios.com/2026/03/13/a...
