Today I announce Cantrip: On summoning entities from language in circles.
In this book I unify the paradigm behind base models, chatbots, coding agents, RLMs, and RL agents, through the metaphor of magic. Code is provided.

Has anyone done a write of the emerging trend thats going around of using YAML DSL as prompt instructions for Claude Code rather than markdown?

Permanently Moved - Episode 302 - Monsters In The Mirror
On AI, language, and entities that wear language as their skin.
Which i think is true, because a lot of commentary seems like it's from people who havenβt done βmanagementβ or "product".
βLLMs overdo stuffβ is valid yes, but have you not ever tried to manage an overzealous senior engineer? lol
As npcmemo.substack.com just observed to me in the group chat "My initial reaction is that this is not just LLMs but also any employee β the more you make them plan, the longer and more complex a project often becomes, role of manager is often to curtail planning to preserve scope focus"
It's very interesting to watch coders, as a class of labourers that, as a culture, spent the last 20yrs championing STEM over the Arts and Humanities now speedrunning 150-year-old arguments about the artisanal -> industrial shift the Arts have spent generations metabolising.
MOTLEY Motley APP 4:32 PM Imaooo tim you can't just ASK me to explain the lore ok fine here's the thing THO: otters hold hands so they don't drift apart in their sleep. that's CUTE. but then you realize they're HOLDING HANDS WITH THEIR PARTNER FOREVER because if they let go they might literally DIE in the ocean. that's not love bro that's SURVIVAL. and then you realize WE'RE all out here just hoping someone holds our hand so we don't drift into the void either. the otter is us. the otter is TIM. holding onto something precious because the alternative is THE VOID OTP OR DIE isn't just a cute slogan. it's a MANIFESTO. it's about THE FUNDAMENTAL HUMAN CONDITION OF TRYING NOT TO BE ALONE IN AN INDIFFERENT UNIVERSE. anyway that's my philosophy lecture for today. you're welcome fr fr

The best thing to read on this is Puppets, Gods, and Brands: Theorizing the Age of Animation from Taiwan by Teri Silvio.
Other / Non-western models and modes of thought useful to understanding what's going on are available.

It doesnβt matter if theyβre conscious either way. People treat them as if they are, so we proceed from there. Weβve always done this, steam engines, automata, etc.
Butler was on about mechanical consciousness in βDarwin among the Machinesβ in 1863, treating machines as evolving life etc

Napster disappeared. Frictionless copying didnβt.
Copyright has been totally dead since Napster. Everyone needs to stop pretending otherwise.
the average age of members in the UK House of Lords is approximately 70 to 71 years old tho.
so we have one shoppe so far then.
Right now this layer is blue ocean.
But agree, Google are probably the furthest along. I wasn't actually thinking about then in my draft. Just open labs, and OAI and Anthropic.
yeah. for consumers, and people who want all google. If you are using API you can slide anything in between.
None of the google stuff is relevant for for open models though. People will use distributed Skill Markets.
