That's just a good wholesome quip
That's just a good wholesome quip
Yes
Oh well then
It's not so much about falsifying myths as it is trying to figure out the true events that were happening at a time and place that myths purport to depict. Sort of like trying to get information about the real Mycenea and Troy from the Iliad
What do you mean? We of course do not assume that any of the supernatural events depicted in Greek myths really happened, quite the opposite. We just study them as things that the Greeks believed
Historical researchers should be going in with a baseline understanding of a materialist worldview and the assumption that miracles don't exist
I don't think anyone's saying the Bible doesn't say that, just that a close reading shows that the earlier texts the others were mostly drawing on for their Jesus facts have a lot less of that, implying that having Jesus himself claim to be the son of god may have been a later addition
For instance to the extent a historical Jesus existed he was definitely not born in Bethlehem or in a manger, the three wise men definitely did not show up for his birth, he did not perform any miracles, was not a virgin birth, did not see himself as founding a religion separate from Judaism, etc
There's kind of a fine line between the "Jesus was a composite character who never really existed" and "almost all the Jesus stories we have are myths added to a very bare bones story about a guy who did exist"
In fact even the Bible kind of implies he was not telling people that
Thinking that way is a slippery slope to having to face up to the irrationality of all Republican policy
Real microcosm of the counterproductive "warrior mentality" to decommission these badly needed but not directly violent mine sweepers in favor of more redundant firepower
I was just playing with my kids at a snowy playground much like this a few days ago...
Trump doesn't even think beyond the conversation he's currently having
From my understanding I'd prefer to reduce the authority of Trump appointees by having them be only "acting" and if possible devolve more power to the permanent civil service, which seems more likely with a vacant political position. Is there some reason you can share why that's wrong?
How would that be worse?
I am feeling a certain schadenfreude right now as a Trump hater who doesn't own a car
This headline kind of clashes with the content about how the Trump DOJ is letting TicketMaster off with a slap on the wrist
What are they thinking? They must know it's politically toxic to vote in Trump nominees, and that doing so is a threat to national security... so why do it?
You go to war with the army in the locations you have it, not in the locations you wish it was and could have easily moved it to with a tiny amount of forethought
Truly the indigenous Welsh have been treated abominably by the Anglo-Saxon colonizers - not to mention the Norman Yoke subsequently placed on both!
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Dark Intersectionality
The franchise is wasted on 50% of voters, the question is which 50%
But what if daddy notices (or let's be real, someone tells him) they're not the same ones??? ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
Just confirms the previous most recent one really
Literally every day we hear of new crimes from Trump that would be the defining scandal of any other administration
