It wasn't in a theater, but: License to Wed. That movie was not just consistently, aggressively unfunny, it was downright offensive in the way that it treated the protagonist--and dragging Robin Williams down with it was simply unforgivable.

In their first-century heyday they held gardens, palaces and baths in a floating wonderland. But barely a decade after their recovery, they were lost forever.
