I would love if you could get him to say this publicly though!
I hope you're right, but screenshotting this for clout later because I think you're wrong
Does he plan to if he is Mayor?
I mean, board members are their own people π€·ββοΈ
Not really a caricature, his stated position is opposing building bike lanes where it involves losing parking or travel lanes. Not sure where you can build a bike lane if that's your stance! The only place I'm spitballing is assuming that he also has existing lanes he wants to dismantle.
Fair enough, I just think it's not accurate to call KM "multimodal" or suggest his GGW responses on bike issues were not representative of his (actual, long-held, very public) views. I would wager that a Mayor KM would rip up more miles of bike lanes than he would build.

"I support bike lanes except not on any of these streets" is an anti-biking platform
This is bonkers IMO. McDuffie's GGW questionnaire was consistent with his LONG record in office. Is there a *single* on-street PBL project in DC that he has supported? I'm sure people can find reasons to support KM for mayor, but "he secretly supports bikers" isn't reality-based or credible.
Seatylock makes folding locks that are popular for their size/price/quality

Depends what you are maximizing for? If you are maximizing for the lock not getting cut, there is no substitute for a grinder proof lock. But they are heavy and expensive. Folding locks are much more convenient, but breakable if someone wants to steal your bike

The fuck is wrong with people. Sorry Erin
I feel like when they have these tricks/traps it's usually 3 that seem obviously connected but not 4
CONNECTIONS SPOILERS
Whoever designed today's NYT connections messed up bad by putting these in here and calling this group a mistake!
I just got a new Tile to replace an old one that broke, only to find that the battery is no longer replaceable. The company's explanation for this is... Kind of psychotic!

Seems like healthcare lobbyists could kill the Big Beautiful Bill if they wanted to... But I guess execs wants that sweet sweet tax cut even if it means millions of patients lose access to care or a bunch of rural hospitals shut down
Isn't Klein in favor of RCV?

FWIW I thought the Lowery piece was not great but not nearly as bad as I thought it would be based on The Discourse
Fun to see the 15th St bike lanes get a glow up ahead of pride!
Just because you have standing doesn't mean you win (or even get any meaningful relief). Frivolous litigation exists and the courts already have tools to deal with it. IMO it's a bigger problem that so much unlawful government action can go unchallenged because of standing doctrine.
I think the emoluments provision is not strong enough. Whatever strengthening of the emoluments clause were to happen should require divestment of outside financial interests and have a judicial enforcement mechanism that isn't reliant on Congress or the executive.

A partial screenshot of an article; the screenshot reads: "Reshaping state budgets through the partial veto is a longstanding act of gamesmanship in Wisconsin between the governor and Legislature, as lawmakers try to craft bills in a way that is largely immune from creative vetoes."
A partial screenshot of an article; the screenshot reads: "Eversβs partial veto in 2023 increased how much revenue K-12 public schools can raise per student by $325 a year until 2425. Evers took language that originally applied the $325 increase for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years and instead vetoed the β20" and the hyphen to make the end date 2425, more than four centuries from now."
I did not know this about Wisconsin and it is extremely funny and absurd. My favorite thing I've learned this week, easily.

If you want to be inspired today, come learn about the Rise Up Federal Workers Legal Defense Network. Almost 1,000 lawyers have volunteered to provide pro bono legal support to federal workers who need legal help navigating this moment.

Oh dear youβre going to want to read this. Looks like DOGErs were caught exfiltrating NLRB data, likely on unions, for private (seemingly Elony) use. This is must read. What weβve all suspected. But now details. www.npr.org/2025/04/15/n...
Embarrassing that this lawsuit had to be brought by a handful of individual small businesses. What exactly is the point of the Chamber of Commerce if it can't bring itself to fight the single most significant and economically destructive government action of any of our lifetimes?

Thrilling to join so many of my fellow paid protestors this afternoon. In this economy you've got a take whatever work you can get.
