Woke to frost today
white crystals melt
as sunlight said hello
before she stirred her
duvet warmth to say
'I'd like to walk with
you in daffodils' he said
I know a place, okay'

He spots her out the corner of his eye
a natural distractor, eyed up by all
the way she moves, the way she briefly touches
he can’t resist a smile, he is not immune

'You're here, I'm here what are
we waiting for?'

'I was about to leave, now you've
got me thinking.'

'While you're thinking why don't
you spend some time with me?'

'I think I will, I'm spellbound by
your smile.'

He waved she blew a kiss
his pace quickened her heart raced
overtaken a stranger in her place
her arms empty his arms full
she screamed, her dark cloud answered
bolt of lightning, they no more
be careful what you wish for
fate doesn’t always get you right

He rushed the steps
reached the platform
a minute before his train
arrives, adjacent track
a train departs, her face
looks out, a stranger,
she smiles, she knows
she's left him spellbound

As she approached, he stood
doffed his cap, looked down
rubbed dirt from short trousered knees
timid in her presence yet found voice
β€˜My Lady,’ she smiled back, unruly hair
a scruff, young, naΓ―ve, her eyes found his
her blush of memory, of being loved, adored.

It started on a Sunday
as spring broke, her line
to him 'I'm here, you're here
what are we waiting for?'
a summer, autumn, winter
she's kept him believing
he obsessed with someone
felt yet not heard or seen ...

Divisible by time
distance between
bodies, once close
become distant, more
felt than measured
the velocity of emotion
full on to ticking over
if real on it's recall
heart beats quicken

She knows he's listening
half-moon late afternoon
as rare as blue sky this day
of February, stars align
over England, her eyes
precede, a stellar coupling

What is this
naked, an embrace
a bare trust
what couldn't be
knowingly, now us

A local park, he sat on a bench
where she’d said she’d be.

A river path, he trod on leaves
in belief her feet would be there too.

A bus stop where she said she’d
get off, he waited till quite dark.

He saw her once, she said not me
blatant, she’d not taken steps at all.

It's been a very long time since I've done London pubs but you don't forget this one - enjoy your weekend.

Green greyed, blue dulled
more than, less than words
mystified, too simply viewed
sophisticated, quite absurd
dreams breathed, echoes edged
defined by lines, innocence, belief
space between, another time, not this

Lifeline

Her face
hey, hasn’t gone yet

Hand held
a trace, a lifeline

Bend in
a kiss, a whisper

Pulse up
she touched him somewhere

Departure

He held her hand
she let go
their parting kiss
a second thing
no barrier crossed
except by her
both looked back
their day return

I thank you for your interest. DM's are not something I get in to. As for my writing, as I say its instinctive, I don't analyse it, and I really do not have more to say on it beyond what I've given already.

Sorry for the typo - you'd think I'd know how to spell eight!

Thank you very much for such an appreciative comment, Sophie - as for my creative process it is as I mentioned - for posts here I write short poems instinctively early morning - and longer poems I write as a member of my local writing society which often appear on my blog. All the best to you, Eric.

Shows as camera ready
loved-up sky adores
no feeling in the dark
half a day alone

I'm not sure which came first
the dawn of light, the end of dark
who measures words, who counts
who prays, we wake, we sleep, we try
some eat, some bleed, fall down, get up
and yes, at times restart, give in, I am
I’m not, the earth is flat, we all go round

Switch off, turn on
reboot, return
same you, same place
by device, your will
you might, you won’t
key stroked, touched up
scrolled down, screen held
still asking β€˜Who are you?'

On line from
their other place
they meet half-way
Kings Cross, noon arrivals
she all bounce, eyes never still,
they walk, fast talk to nearest pub
her face, his smile, real, their hands too
last trains ran to, a touch of lips
big city sigh, well met these two

Thank you - I've been writing short poems to prompts early in the morning for about a decade which mostly turn out to be about relationships drawn from observation of life and break of dawn imagination.

need her reason why
