Help Save Leicestershire’s Bronze Age Torc Help us raise £10,000 towards Leicestershire Museums' acquisition of this unique object so that it can remain in the public domain.

So close!! Can we get it across the line and into the safety of Leicester Museums Service, where it can be researched, studied... and looked after in perpetuity!

Hello, rest of world. Today in Britain the leaders of mainstream political parties have been debating whether putting native woodland creatures on our banknotes is emblematic of our tragic decline as a patriotic nation, and we hope things are equally weird with you.

Sen. Murray: "I'm just sickened by this. To go into this war unprepared, to use outdated data, and to have this horrific thing happen where children were killed in a school sends a horrible message to those that are in a war with us and to our own constituents about what America's values are."

I think I’m more interested in knowing what happened when Blair met Epstein than in knowing what Blair thinks Starmer should do when faced with a warmongering president who doesn’t care about international law

A black-and-white montage portrait of pioneering American virologist Charlotte Friend (1921–1987), who discovered the Friend leukemia virus and advanced understanding of retroviruses and cancer. The main image shows her in her laboratory, seated at a compound microscope in a research setting lined with shelves of scientific books and journals. She is a middle-aged woman with short, neatly styled dark hair, wearing round-framed eyeglasses, a pearl necklace, and a white lab coat over a patterned blouse with a floral collar. She smiles warmly and confidently at the camera, one hand resting near the microscope's stage, conveying dedication, intelligence, and approachability. In the lower right corner is a smaller inset close-up portrait of a younger Charlotte Friend, smiling brightly with softer features, short wavy hair, and a simple white blouse, highlighting her earlier career. The composition blends her professional lab environment with a personal archival photo, celebrating her groundbreaking contributions to virology, leukemia research, and women's roles in science during the mid-20th century. The overall mood is one of scholarly achievement, warmth, and historical significance.

Virologist Charlotte Friend (b. #OTD in 1921) proved viruses could cause cancer (1957) & revolutionized virology (& helped define modern retrovirology).

She later pioneered differentiation therapy, showing cancer cells could be "reverted" to health, defining a new path to treat cancer. #WomenInSTEM

The US administration wants Putin to win, and Ukraine to surrender. The US let’s be clear is the enemy of Ukraine 🇺🇦, the UK, the EU, and Europe.

Well Churchill was a racist too, and against the creation of the NHS. He’s had his time on a banknote. Happy to see him replaced by a hedgehog (other animal species are available).

Ukraine has regained more territory than at any time since 2023 and this moment is the exact moment when Trump decides to drop sanctions on russian oil, the profits of which putin will use directly for attacking Ukraine further.

Telling how confident Starmer now feels in owning his Iran decision. His best outing against Badenoch at PMQs in months. KB not alone in shifting her position. Many of those in the press and politics demanding war and condemning Starmer loudest have been far quieter since the inevitable chaos began.

Iranian military command says it will target US banks and financial institutions in the Middle East.

I should perhaps point out that banks and financial institutions are not legitimate military targets, and targeting them would be a breach of international law, not that this will worry Iran. That said the US is no better than Iran (and is the aggressor here).
