I didn't clarify but I mostly meant by Nintendo themselves but yeah unlike DuckTales , or bionic commando, or other nes titles who have been 'inspiration' it is sparse there too huh?

We rarely get to see ideas that didn't work . They can keep secrets generally. I wonder if somebody ever tried to make a follow up or do a 3d version of the gameplay and it just wasn't fun.

The enemies are all over the Yoshi games. The specific 4 player characters are the core or Mario 3d land. But the game mechanics , the picking up and throwing etc has never really returned and Nintendo rarely ever abandons game play that still works and can be evolved.

I found myself wondering last night if there is a reason why Mario 2 US has never been revisted outside of aesthetics . I know it was originally doki doki panic but it was made by Nintendo and the Mario version has been released in Japan.
