Today is a sad day for Trans Kids. Livesaving Puberty Blockers have been indefinitely banned by Wes Streeting. Trans kids met with Streeting and spoke about how this decision would affect them, and how poorly this would impact their mental health. He has ignored their concerns, he has ignored the Council of Europe on the ethical questions they have raised and he has instead chosen to praise anti-trans activists and talk about anti-trans dog whistles such as ‘sex-based rights’. The Labour Government has at every opportunity chosen to reject the march of progress on matters of trans equality such as GRA reform, trans access to gender spaces and now Puberty Blockers. While his statement may sound compassionate, his decision will severely negatively affect the lives of trans kids across the UK. Studies have shown that usage of Puberty Blockers improves mental health outcomes. He chose to ignore these. His lack of acknowledgment of the heartbreaking story of a young trans boy who has been driven to anorexia in a desperate attempt to stop his puberty shows how little he and the Labour Government care for trans kids. We’re proud of Lib Dem MP Vikki Slade and other MPs from across the House for challenging this awful decision. The Young Liberals will always stand up for trans equality and will stand up for Trans Kids,even when Labour and the Conservatives refuse to.

Which is a contradiction in terms, no? FPTP is archaic which is why most of Europe has ditched it. The majority of Labour's membership want electoral reform, the PLP are just concerned about power and their own jobs. And ER also includes removing issues around dark money etc, which can only be good?
