That's how I saw it, too.
Was also like the gambler who wins his first pull of the slot machine, then chases it and loses everything. They scored a TD on that pass to Zay, and kept chasing the pass.
Was only later I found the Gus info.
Remember they tried to trade for Henry. Lost faith in their RB.

Looking back on the AFCCG loss to KC:
One thing I had forgotten was that Gus had fumbled in the last *2* reg season games (Miami and Pitt). I think the coaching staff lost confidence in Gus – at the absolute WORST possible time.
Like you said, a self-inflicted wound.

Both things can be true

1. Lamar *IS* declining athletically, a little bit. He's not quite as sudden as he used to be.
He turns 29 in ~6 weeks! He *SHOULD* be a smidge less sudden than he used to be. Normal and expected.

2. The Ravens O-line is wet garbage.

(Doesn't help that some receivers are or have been hurt.)
