I highly recommend learning your local bird calls because it's so nice to know who exactly hangs out in your area. I thought bluejays were rare here for the longest time until I started hearing them EVERYWHERE

A lot of avatars use things like twist bones in the wrists, or helper bones in the butt and elbows to improve their movement. They're usually partially weighted to multiple sources in vrc

you can technically do that with CopyGlobalTransform, but partial weight or having multiple sources is extremely difficult. I had to learn some quaternion math to (badly) imitate it in protoflux, and that's only for partial weight to 1 source
