I contacted Wain to let him know since I've agreed to let him know of any odd skins we find, though I wouldn't blame him if he chose not to bother changing them since... well, they're not intended in the first place.

Also fun fact; these two are incorrectly listed on Petopia (as of now at least) as "Chartreuse Dreamrunner" skins. At least in Spirit's case, it's actually "Chartreuse Dreamrunner w/ Yellow Aura". Probably got bunched together with the former because there's no new glowing dreamrunners otherwise.

Obviously, we've made the unanimous decision to not do shit like that after we find out. There's only one other NPC that we know of with an insane spawn timer (EIGHT HOURS), but fortunately that one isn't tameable nor visible under normal circumstances.

By far, Spirit is the most harmful tame we've come across in the past few expansions since Shadowlands. We actually didn't notice these two on beta, so they were a surprise when we actually started questing. We accidentally locked people out of the quest for half an hour as a result. Woops!

Now, here's some trivia and a reason why we absolutely refused to share Spirit of Lake Elrendar (henceforth just called Spirit); all players see the same Spirit when on the quest, and taming it causes a THIRTY MINUTE RESPAWN TIMER.

This is the only beast we've ever found like this.

One last post for a while; Legendary Spirit (left) and Spirit of Lake Elrendar (right) from Midnight. Both lose their cool ghostly green effect when tamed, but Legendary Spirit has a unique green texture AND ghostly effect. It's literally solid green.

There's really no reason not to have this. We have Recuperate now, which is a REALLY powerful out of combat self heal with no real cooldown. Hunter pets should have the same option, as Rest is a great out of combat heal, especially when paired with Mend Pet.

One of my passion projects when it comes to finding and fixing exploits is finding a way to beg the devs to give ALL hunter pets the Rest ability, which is currently used exclusively by bears and rodents. There are a lot of beasts with sleeping animations, and some even get them in later patches!

Someone elsewhere asked me to post a demonstration of the void aura panthera that I posted in the past. This thing is a pain to record because the effect is so random.

So, for the one or two members of Petopia that might randomly see this; know that there are guardian misfits out there who will gladly share tricks when we find them on live servers, and that we will find ways to tame those friendly-exclusive things.

A harmless exploit has very minor potential to be disruptive, but is otherwise just a silly thing that has no real major power. An action button that aggros friendly NPCs, and nothing more? That's what we consider harmless. These are EXTREMELY rare to find though.

A harmful exploit isn't just "haha I can hurt any npc". True harmful exploits can violently disrupt others' gameplay, lock quests for hours, cause server-wide lag regardless of zones, and so many more horrible things. The Legion prepatch exploit was this kind of exploit.

Now, why did I say this exploit is harmless? It clearly allows damaging any NPC! Well, here are the reasons;
- It was exclusive to Midnight content
- It didn't do a lot of damage
- It was not viable in pvp
- It was less intrusive than the Legion prepatch exploit

Wain, the owner of Petopia, has made it very clear that exploit talk is not allowed there, but I'm sure he would have looked the other way for a very brief time after launch (not early access) since it obviously would get fixed quickly.

It saddens me that we never got the chance to do so.

Understandably, I hate the pink dreamrunner as a result. My whole team does. This was our first opportunity to post an exploit that would have been a nice gift to the hunter pet community, but the loss of the foals hit us hard, especially since we lost another non-exploit foal in the past.

There was no way I could just post on Petopia saying "Hey, I have an exploit to tame friendlies that is safe to use, don't mention any friendly NPCs please", because at the time, I still kept my shenanigans mostly hidden. I regret not opening up sooner about this, but it just wasn't meant to be.

Unfortunately, two of my helpers were so devastated by the loss of the foals as a tameable pet that they reported the selfie + warping wise bug a week after the change, and got the exploit fixed on beta. They reflected on their hasty actions, but we were all understanding.

We were planning to post this similar to how older pet exploits were posted, such as the Stunted Direhorn and such. We figured that this would have been a nice thing to post on Petopia since it was the most harmless exploit we had found that let us aggro and tame friendlies.

Using the Warping Wise and spamming the selfie button would have had you retain the selfie button through the teleport. For whatever reason, this somehow allowed the selfie to harm any non-player entity until you left Midnight zones. We still have no idea why this worked, but it did.

So, here's the exploit now that it's fixed (both the foal and the exploit itself);

In Voidstorm, some world quests in Slayers Rise give you an extra action button that is a damaging selfie.
Fishing in Voidstorm and Oceanic Vortexes could give you Warping Wise, a teleport item.

When all the attention flooded these dreamrunners, the pink skin was (rightfully, technically) put on NPCs that had it in the alpha. Unfortunately, the foal was collateral damage, and was no longer tameable. My team was devastated by this, and I wasn't able to let Petopia know at the time.

I tried running interference on Petopia to calm down attention. At this point, I had not openly admitted to finding bugs and exploits, so I tried to play it off as "Oh well, some things just aren't meant to be", hoping people would just accept it and move on.

I was right; it wasn't meant to be.

Also on the beta for a while, the pink dreamrunner was exclusive to these friendly unicorns. They were also available to tame with that harmless exploit.

One day however, some users on Petopia brought too much attention to the pink unicorn. The foals were not mentioned, but this was a problem.

Some history from the beta; see these horses and their foals? The foals were flagged tameable for a pretty long time on the beta. One of my helpers found a proper harmless exploit that let us tame this foal, and it was a simple (but not obvious at all) item interaction.

I'm keeping my eyes open on ptr for it. It might be part of the ritual sites or the other things tied to it (forgot their names), but it might be part of a different story than what's available. Time will tell, and hopefully it's intended to be tamed!

Kai's current "max" size when using a magical pet biscuit. Significantly smaller than before.

It's Kai, a rare reward from the purple Stormarion Assault loot box. He's as large as he is in the screenshot because I used a Magical Pet Biscuit. Unfortunately, he is no longer this big. They nerfed him for no reason so he's small now :(

Kai is a baby ultradon from Voidstorm. He was originally very large as a battle pet, and grew to hilarious proportions with the use of a magical pet biscuit. Now, his height is much shorter.

Remember when Taivan was INCORRECTLY made small, and people voiced their disdain until he was properly big again? We need to do this for Kai. Absolutely sinful that he's been shrunk.

Some things are not what they seem until you see them for yourself. For example, here's a horse that's normally a green ghost. When tamed, it becomes a ghost with a green tint instead.

Forgot to mention that if you want to do this yourself on PTR while it still works, follow these steps;
- Start skyriding
- Hold your right mouse button
- Fly straight down (for max speed)
- Press and hold your strafe or turn keys

This allows for permanent maximum velocity flight with zero drop. You will only land or descend when you choose.

This is a harmless exploit, and it will get fixed soon, but this is the kind of exploit I'm willing to share BECAUSE it's going to be fixed on a test realm.
